Your signature doesn't say where you're located. Looks like the East Coast according to your map but where was your rv stored last year?

I run antifreeze through my GE residential fridge ice maker as I really can’t access the ice maker plumbing without moving the fridge which I didn’t want to do...I put the winterization tube in the gallon of antifreeze and let it cycle until it starts making pink slush cubes.
This takes a bit of time but it works for me. Come spring I throw away the first 5 or 6 batches of ice.

I’m in Delaware. I’ve winterized my own RVs for
The last 7 years. Last year was the first time with the residential fridge and my first problem. The water dispenser on the Whirlpool will still operate without a filter in place so I’m going to pull the filter and run anti-freeze through it with the rest of the system.

So if we cycle the icemaker til it makes slush, I would assume we should put a baggie in there to catch the slush or you'd have a mess right? Yea I called Whirlpool about a water filter bypass and there's not one. Just take it out.

I would read the directions from whirlpool on how to winterize. They clearly state not To run antifreeze into the frig.

When I winterize, I leave valve closed and blow the system out with air. Once all water is removed from the FW, I then open the valve to the frig and cycle the water dispenser (without the filter installed) until all water is removed. Kind of a pain but it works pretty good. Hope this helps. I was told never to run antifreeze into the frig. The manual states that also.
I did this this past weekend. I shut the valve off to the fridge under the sink. Very little water came out of the dispenser. Only one cycle of ice came through. So isn't there still water in the line feeding the fridge from the shutoff? And if you say now open the valve and blow it out, doesn't that just push the water back into the line you just drained with the icemaker cycling and dispenser?

Yes, but there's not really a better solution. I feel the risk is greater if you don't use antifreeze. We did it last winter and everything was fine this year.

You need to open the valve and run air thru the line as I have explained in my previous post. The valve on the frig that feeds the water dispenser is located on the bottom of the frig. Any water left in the line going up to the ice maker and dispenser will settle back down into the valve. This will cause it to freeze and crack. Simply open the valve, hook your compressor up using 20 psi, put a cup under the dispenser and you will get about 3 cups of water blowing out. Stop worrying about the ice maker, it is the same line that feeds the dispenser. No water will enter the ice maker.

Thank you. Why wouldn't Jayco include this in the paperwork? Unbelievable! This really helps, thanks.

Where did you get this from? I didn't even get this when I called Whirlpool myself. The model # is slightly different than mine but they are identical fridges.

Well they are supposed to be putting it in with the warranty packet on all units that have the Whirlpool residential refrigerators. I don' t know if that is happening or not, which is why i posted it. I hope it helps you out. 0311859 is the part number for that document which was created here at Jayco. Whirlpool will not be able to supply that document. Jayco should be able to provide that if you request it.

The instructions for the GE residential fridge/icemaker in my rig were very vague about winterizing.. even on the GE website.. Sometimes you really have to dig on the internet to find answers..

First time poster and proud new owner of a ‘19 377RLBH. I looked for the valves in question. No valve in the island and the other valve is behind the oven. I can feel it with my fingers but can’t access it. That being said, the dealer switched to the fridge to “quick ice“ or “rapid ice “ or something to that effect. That forces the ice maker to immediately open up the solenoid valve and fill the tray. We repeated that until we got pink. I didn’t know at the time how to turn off the fridge (I do now) but by the time we got home, I had pink slush all over the inside of the freezer door. Job done! Apparently. Now if I can just figure out how to turn the inverter off. Pushing the power button is too easy apparently.

And that’s awesome. “Do not use antifreeze in this refrigerator “.
