Fresh Water Tank - Drain Valve and rate of drain

Hell all--

My 1998 Eagle 243 RKS has two T handle drain valves inside coach. These appear to be for low point line drains. They work fine. When I pull them, water drains out of two vinyl hoses directly below valve, under coach, but not near water tank.

Under my water tank is what appears to be a tank drain. It only drips water when I attempt to drain it. I am sanitizing my system (filled tank with 1/4 cup bleach to every 15 gals of water). When I went to drain tank, this is when I discovered the drip. Why is it dripping and not allowing a full flow of water to exit tank? Am I missing something?

Those plastic valves usually require a 180 turn to open. Not sure but it should not be to hard to remove to see if the valve is malfunctioning or the line is clogged. You could also blow some air into the valve once you know it is open and maybe that would dislodge it. It is only gravity flow so it does not take much to plug it.

If you're sure its open all the way, maybe there is a little debris in the tank that found its way to the valve. Maybe blow some air or shoot some water up into the tank through the valve/hose.

I had that problem when I first bought mine (used). I ended up removing the fitting from the tank and inserted a screwdriver into the hole. There was a white film on it when I removed it. I cleaned the hole out as best I could and sanitized again. It's drained fine ever since. (Well, at least as quickly as that little valve will let it.)

removed valve and stuck a piece of insulated wire into the hose and agitated it a few times. Presto.....water came a flowing!! I'm going to install a new plastic valve and all should be good.

I need help... I'm working on a 2001 Jayco for a friend, I can't figure out how to add water, everytime I try water just spews out. Is there a valve to change from city water to me filling up the tank myself?? On the back left is where the tank is with "low point drain" hoses and it says "city water hookup." Underneath you can see the black tank and where a water hose can hook up, I hook it up and water shoots from somewhere everywhere but not where I hooked it up.. I guess one of my many questions and I apologize if I posted this wrong is how can I get water in the tank? How do I get the pump to pump the water.. Its got water in it, turn the pump on and no water comes through the lines and I've taken the line off at the pump to make sure.. Thank you and my apologies for any inconvienience

you may want to start a new thread for better response.


water tank fill is on side of trailer, not under. Water fills usually have a screw on cap that is a little larger than a water hose cap. Once cap is removed you place a water hose inside and turn on water until it fills. The hose connection on black tank is probably a clean out.....do NOT connect your fresh water hose to this line!!!!!! if you did, do NOT fill fresh water with this same hose. It has now become your black water hose!
