Got my estimate and it came in at $2200. Now the ball is in the dealer/Jayco court. If denied I'll not shell out that amount, you could probably get a car repainted for that much. May be looking for another alternative. One suggestion was a local sign shop that makes whole car decals. Might ask them about that for the cap.

Local paint shop did mine by sanding the faded area even between the Eagle lettering and clear coated the entire cap. He sprayed the sanded area and right over the decals saying the clear coat will also protect them. Same shop had done the hood & top of my truck where the clear coat had deteriorated over the last 16 years. $1000 for both units.

2015 fade

Our rig is one year old and started fading like others on the top of the cap. I contacted dealer and Jayco with pics and we got approved in one week. We also will be having the color changed to match the body witch will help cool. We will be camping next week and then dropping it off for paint. So far we are very happy with how fast and professional Jayco customer service is with the few issues we had.

I noticed some discoloration last week on mine but I had no idea how bad it was until I got a bucket truck for a closer look. Once I got up high enough, I could see that the entire top of the cap is gray and it's working its way down the front.

I'm 4 months out of warranty and very worried Jayco will not cover this. On our first trip out this year our front AC did not work. Jayco did not cover anything because our warranty had expired two months prior to the trip. Phone calls to Jayco customer service did not help. The answer was NO.

I've forwarded pictures of the problem to the dealer and they will be filing a claim tomorrow.

Wish me luck...
Kevin

Was notified by email from dealer that Jayco denied the claim for my 2013 Eagle fading cap. They suggested I contact Jayco myself, which I did on Monday. They told me that the claim was denied by "Anthony" who was at lunch but would call me. So far nothing. I guess I'll have to call them again.

*****Update!
Out of warranty and claim was approved! What a great company. Now just have to schedule with paint shop and wait for decals. Going to go with just those two swoosh ends, no Eagle or mountain scene, and paint to match th rest of the RV.

That's great news! I was really worried because mine is out of warranty by 4 months, but my dealer just notified me that Jayco approved my claim. I am asking for it to be repainted the same as the body.

Dark colors on RV's

Just returned from the Tamp Summer RV show and the dark color RV's look good but here in Florida they make the AC work so much harder. My Precept 31UL had an option for full body paint for $12,500. I can replace a lot of decals for that amount of money and my RV will stay cooler with the light tan gel coat.

OUTSTANDING!!!!

Smart move on the color change. 100+ degrees cooler on the surface and about 30 degrees cooler on the interior of the cabinets of the front cap

I was glad I heard about the fade on here as I put in for mine last fall when it started right at the top of the front cap. Problem is most of the time by the time it migrates down to eye view its too late for warranty. Mine is to be painted at the jayco factory this fall but my fade has gotten seriously worse since last fall and now is really noticeable from the ground.

Your dealer or Jayco?
If you haven't called Jayco to inquire about the denied claim I'd do that today.
The first call to them got a note given to the tech who denied my claim, with the promise that he'd call me. After two days I called again and was told it had been "modified, approved". They allso said that "the portal had been down" for a few days and dealers couldn't log in. Maybe this was the reason things showed as denied.
If denied, I wanted to ask them what they would recommend I do about the fading. I'm pretty certain they don't want people thinking about buying Jayco and hearing that the paint fades quickly. Also not good advertizing for them seeing these going down the road.
Good luck!

This stinks, just found the thread. Took my 2013 DSBH out of storage this Spring and found the top front edge severely faded, tried waxing it but didn't help. We bought used in 2014 so probably no help from Jayco on this. Not so hot up here in Michigan so it may have taken another 6-12 months to start showing.

Final update to my fading issue...Jayco paid to have the endcap re-painted, but refused to cover the fading on the sides & back, as they "do not warranty the 'painted' surfaces." I later found out that the sides & back are not painted, but are resin composite panels! Also found out that Zxylon does not warranty any application of their product on such surfaces! Jayco was no help, so the dealer stepped up and bought us out of our Jayco & made us a super deal on another brand. Good luck to all.

The no answer was from Jayco, I bought the 2014 in 2015 used, it had been out 3 or 4 times and still smelled new. Jayco's out was second owner so no warranty even though the manufacture date was just over a year old. Looked like crap so I had it done locally at my expense, I keep my equipment well maintained. My TV is 16 years old and I get asked frequently if it's new, no just well kept.

Actually my front cap cracked at the running light during the first summer we had it. Took to the dealer and Jayco replaced the whole cap rather than trying to repair.

Just emailed jayco about mine I may also call dealer. This camper has been in quite a few times for warranty items the biggest being collapsed ductwork for furnace. They had to completely replace ducting. Frustrating to say the least. Not sure if I would want my dealer to paint cap or have a body guy do it that i trust. I would think an automotive type paint would be better than what Jayco is using.

My trailer "2014 Jayfeather X19H" was just starting to fade slighting on the front. I only just noticed it when hooking up my battery. Further than the hitch and you would never tell it was an issue. Also the front is a light color. Warranty up in 2 months so took to dealer. Jayco decided not to pay for repainting by dealer BUT instead sent the dealer a new front cap to put on. Looks good .. hopefully this one lasts longer.

So we got the fifth wheel back today and i am really happy! We decided to not put decals on and the body shop painted two front stripes for us. We went with the same color as the body to help cool the bedroom. As i said i am really happy with the way it turned out.

Mine is in getting painted now. We went the same way with decals, basically none except the two "ends" of the side swoosh. Will post before and after pic when it's home.
