Front hatch lock

Hey all,
New to this forum and just wanted to ask a few questions about our new 5th wheel.
1. What do most of you do to secure the front hatch where your batteries, generator etc go? I’m surprised Jayco does not have factory installed latches on the compartment holding your most valuable equipment?
2. Is there an easy fix for the large gap created at the bottom of your entrance door by the Morryde steps?

Thanks in advance for any and all info

Generator compartment lock

Same issue. I was told that no lock is installed because of the generator being a potential fire hazard, similar to your LP tank access doors. I have no generator so I put a keyed alike lock on it.

The Morryde step above steps...I recently posted on them. I don't have that gap issue, but I do have issues with them!

My Pinnacle came with a lock on the front storage area. I did not order it with gen prep.

Ours came gen prepped & a lock. Gen has been installed and we still keep it locked - it is gas not propane.

I believe they don't because of the batteries fumes and possible fire from the generator

There is a Federal regulation about having non locking doors where propane is stored.. Fireman hazard

I agree. That's why the side propane doors don't lock. My question now is. The front bay where the generator and batteries are stored has a vent for the batteries i am assuming. is the no lock because on mine the gen is propane?

My 5th wheel doesn't have a generator onboard, but it does have 3 front hatch latches. Two are turn screws. The third is a "keyed alike" lock that uses the camper door key.
