Full Timer & Warranty Work

Question for the full timers...........how do you manage warranty work when you are a full timer. Can't imagine having to leave your "home" with a dealer for weeks on end. Would really like to hear about real experiences since we will be full timers starting May 1st.

Our dealership is flexible.

Sometimes they'll just give us an item (like a piece of trim) knowing I'll install and they'll run the paperwork as completed warranty work.

I pulled the furnace and brought to them for repair.

For larger items we schedule a vacation. Something good you can do that's non-RV (Hawaii for a week?) and drop the trailer off on the way out of town.

Looks like we're pretty close to your location

In some cases Jayco CS will authorize mobile RV repair services.

Mobile repair, fix it yourself with dealer supplied parts, and pray that nothing extremely important (that isn’t easily DIY) breaks. Last time they had us at the dealership for 3 days, we plugged into the side of their service center and stayed there while they fixed an awning.

As WinnieView said JAYCO has authorized mobile service in many cases. You may have to pay and then submit for reimbursement, but they normally send out a check in 2wks or less.

We have been FT for 10yrs. Campingworld of Davenport IA is very flexible. We have gone fishing, even stayed in the RV at night and then gone for the day to sight see or visit family.

Techs have told me if the dealer has to remove the slide and install or repair the work time should be only two days. This of course requires a lot of scheduling and planning.

We still love our life.....

I just got a bunch of warranty work done by a local RV place in Sarasota (while I was there) and Jayco is paying for all of it other than the initial call out fee which I was happy to pay for the convenience of never having the move the RV.

Just make sure that you or the dealer/shop contact Jayco Customer Service at service@jayco.com or 800-283-8267 to get the work pre-authorized. They'll often ask for photos, approve certain hours for work and then the shop can go back to them if needed. Much like a body shop dealing with an insurance company. Most shops will coordinate with happily Jayco directly.

I've found Jayco to be very reasonable so far.
