Furnace Bug Screen
Does anybody have, or currently use these screens over their furnace exhaust ports? If so, over time, has anyone experienced air flow issues, possibly resulting in overheating? Your help would be appreciated...thanks

We have that exact screen over our exhaust port, and it hasn't caused any issues at all. It won't restrict the exhaust flow at all. We have screens on the lower fridge access door also. Even here, mud daubers will find the worst places.

Have that screen plus the ones that block the refrigerator vents (3).

6 years on this unit and 2 on the previous, no problems. I was taught this lesson by my uncle/aunt who were avid campers. The furnace wouldn’t fire, after long hours at the repair shop and many greenbacks changing hands spider nests and dirt daubers in the burn tube were diagnosed and cleaned. He told me, “get the screens”. The type you are looking at will work but not cause airflow issues. Placing a flat screen mesh over the vent will. It’s down to the mesh size and surface area of the screen. The commercial “bubble” screen has a larger surface area than a flat screen.
Get em, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. We use them on the WH, furnace and fridge. All are vulnerable to critters.

I have everything screened with those type screens. I added some stainless steel wire to tie them in place because those springs looked iffy.
Much better than cleaning out wasp nests that we have here in central Illinois.
Keeps out mice also!.

I did too Roger! Stainless steel baling wire from any hardware store. Those springs were too hard to work with, and when they were in place they were fragile and move around. Nothing moves now! Works great!

Same here. I've used them on 3 trailers since 1993. Never an issue. We also have wasp problems where I live.

I have them on all my vents and no problems in years of use on three different RV models. Before that I had wasp nests and mice getting in under a cover and up and in. Nothing since!

I've been meaning to get them for our furnace, but my parents have them on their Wildcat Maxx fifth wheel and they help so much with preventive maintenance
