Furnace burner started going off and on every few seconds...

2 nights ago I started hearing the burner flash on then off every 10 seconds or 20 at the longest...Now tonight it's definitely not lighting, because the heat won't come on, I'm freezing. We have a mechanic coming next week to ck something else so he will look at that too. Plenty if fuel on board. Any suggestions?

Sick of this in Seattle!

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Sounds like the thermocouple has failed. They are cheap and easy to replace. Should be able to get a replacement most home improvement, RV, and hardware stores.

Found one on Amazon, so you can see what it looks like:

Also a quick search turned up a trouble shooting guide to help you:

We had a problem like that Turned out to be the propane bottles. We weren't getting any heat (but we also had no burners on the stove working) The heater would try to start but it would just cycle. Both bottles were full. It seems we had to turn the bottles off loosen the connections at the bottles to let it bleed off pressure re-tighten them and turn the bottles on very slowly ( I was told by the propane dealer if you open the valves quickly it would trip a shut off as if there was a surge.)It worked after we did this. I hope this helps

Yes, I had this happen. The surge shutoff was located inside the fitting that connects to the regulator. I poked it with a wire and that seemed to fix it. Looking back, what probably fixed it was disconnecting and reconnecting it

You can tell if this is the problem by trying to light your stove. If it doesn't work properly the problem is with propane delivery, not your furnace.

I have a weed burner that will trip the damn safety often. Love it when it works though.
