Furnace with Heat pump

Our 2018 377RLBH has the heat pump and a furnace. If I am understanding to the owners manual, the furnace wont come on unless there is a 5 degree difference between the selected temp and the actual temp. It said the heat pump is primary and the furnace is a back up for when it gets really cold. Heck that the way my heat pump works at home. so it make sense to me.

When I keep pushing the thermostat button it cycles through heat gas, heat gas & electric then cooling. But if I leave it on heat gas, it changes to heat gas & electric.

How can I get the furnace to come on independent of the heat pump, just to confirm its working correctly.

How can I tell if my furnace is coming on? I have three full tanks of propane and the stove works fine.

No the furnace comes on with the heat pump if there is a 5 degree or more temp differential. (ex coach is at 62 and you set thermostat for 70) Furnace will turn off at 65. Also RV heat pumps usually shut off at around 38-40, much higher than a home system which usually works down to 30 or 32. To operate furnace alone go to gas heat vs elec.

Reset switch got me this past weekend on a north point 381dlqs. Thanks to this forum I was able to get the furnace working again. Not sure I could have reached the switch if it had been any further from the access panel.
