Furrion cooktop glass cover shattered.

Finally out on our first trip of the season to the Texas coast, and we get to the campground and find our cooktop glass cover shattered on the stove. Has this happened to anyone? Can anyone tell me how to remove the hinge to get the remaining glass out? Thanks in advance!

Wow, never seen a glass cooktop cover in an RV. What were they thinking making something breakable that rolls down potentially rough roads?

Really stupid design. If I can figure out how to remove the remaining parts, I'm not gonna replace it. The grates fit snugly in rubber grommets so they don't need the glass cover to hold it down. Serves no purpose whatsoever but to shatter and become a problem.

Did you have it down when traveling?
We have had ours for 2 years and 5k miles with no problem. It must be down when traveling. I also wonder what the purpose of a glass cover.

Yes, it's always down when travelling. Most of the time after the trip it is in the up position like a tent. Still don't know what happened this time. Such a PITA.

We usually have it down. It’s another place to set stuff. That sucks it broke. We’ve been on some terrible roads and ours has held up so far. Maybe it was already weakened a bit.

Travelling it's always down but for some reason, it always works itself into a tent position travelling. Cleanup was a bi***. If you've ever had your car broken into, you know how it is cleaning up safety glass.

Consider yourself lucky! I had one of our shower panels shatter in transit on our 377! That was not fun to clean up! I haven't had a problem with the cooktop cover...yet. I think yours is different than mine, as I have a '16.

I like it, for the extra counter space it provides, but I can see it being problematic. A shop vac is definitely in order to start cleanup. Sorry for your trouble.

Funny you say that. While showering today, my elbow hit the shower glass panel door pretty hard and it scared the crap out of me. Thought it was shattering. Got to be more careful.

Thanks. But I wouldn't be putting anything on top of it. Furrion even suggests not to place anything on it as it can break the glass. So stupid. And I just fount the part on E-trailer, $339. I have no plans on replacing it. Stupid design anyway.

I have the glass top also and I am having difficulty envisioning the glass in a tent position. From a folded down position, the front half folds back on itself, then hinges back to lean on the backsplash. Yours must be different. I wonder if it was installed upside down?

No, I think it's the same one as yours. Ours folds the same way but for some reason, tents itself slightly while travelling. It's not supposed to bend that way but does.
