Furrion Rear camera not working

First trip with my new GMC2500 and the Furrion back camera would not connect with the monitor in the truck. I removed the camera and it works when plugged in the the lighter plug. Did some research on Furrion and found out that the new trucks don’t send enough power to the camera for it to work correctly even though the blue light on the camera is on. This same camera worked fine with my 2009 2500. Furrion’s fix is to add a $85 pigtail they claim will fix the problem. Anybody else have this issue? Does the Furrion pigtails work on GMC’s?

I would test that theory first. With the truck hooked up to the camper, jump the 7-way plug to power the lights from the camper. If that works, I would wire the camera to utilize a switch instead of the trucks marker lights.

If you want it to work off the marker so the camera turns on with the marker instead of having to use a switch, you could wire a relay to use the marker to trigger the relay to send a full power 12v to it…. But you’d have to be able to get a wire to it. In my camper 28bhs there is a purple wire that runs from camera area to control center… so you might have something like that you could use for a switch or a relay.

On many of these Jayco has run a purple wire to the camera. You can utilize that wire to power the camera if you have it. When I originally installed my camera switch, I had a relay and a switch so the camera could be powered from either the switch or the truck lights.
This may be helpful to you as well.

So according to Furrion and etrailer the pigtail will not work on the 2021 GM's. Furrion is working on another fix but no idea when it will be ready. The only fix is to wire the camera direct to the battery. My truck has the OEM camera option so I am switching.
