Gas water heat switch on without water in the tank

I made a very rookie mistake. Probably because I am a rookie.
We had family over last week so some stayed in the 5th wheel. I turned on the gas for the furnace at the LP tanks and made the mistake of thinking the switch at my control panel said gas heat so I turned it on too. That switch is actually for gas Water heater. My RV is winterized so there is no water in the tank and the plug is out. It stayed this way all night. Now I’m wondering if I may have over heated the empty tank. Can’t really test it until spring when I dewinterize. Will the gas burner continue to heat an empty tank?

That sucks, but mistakes do happen. Hopefully it wasn’t damaged.

Fill it up slowly and watch for leaks. It may have survived. Everybody goofs up now and then. If you have to load up on youtubes on how to swap it yourself.

Did you by chance enjoy a few bourbons before setting up the trailer for company? [emoji1634]
