Generator for 377

I don't know much about generators and we are thinking about purchasing one for our North Point 377( that we will be picking up in early April!). Can anyone tell me what to look for for a somewhat quite dependable generator that will run our camper electricity?

I bought a new Honda 3000si last Christmas when they were on sale. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it has a large enough gas tank to run all night if needed. This is a 3000 Watt unit. Big enough to run 1 AC unit.

Another is the Yamaha equivalent. 3000 Watt.

Another option is to buy 2 smaller ones. They can be hooked up parallel and provide more power. Advantage is they are lighter than the 3000 Watt but take up more floor space in your TV or TT.

Recently some are buying the Champion units. Less $$$, smaller tank.

Generators - Champion Power Equipment

More options are available but these are the most talked about.

I used the Honda 3000IS and it will run a 1.5 btu a/c from idle. My new pinnacle has a generator but I plan on using my Honda overnight at my site if needed since it will run all night on 2 gallons. It is heavy but very quiet and dependable. I ordered mine with the gen but if u did not get the Honda.

My dealer is saying that he would use a 7500 watt generator. He suggested a power mate. It's definitely and option for us, as we could use it for backup power for our house, to run some basic stuff. My only problem with it is that it won't be quite. Anyone have one or used one of these?

How u gonna move it. That is big and sucks gas. Like I said mine has the Cummings gen but I will only use it as needed. My main power on my camp will be from the Honda which will run one of my a/c units from econo mode

Says it will run 12 hours on 50 percent load. We would only be using it when we get a storm and lose power. As far as lifting goes, I have a hoist system on my t/v. Works pretty slick.

I'm sure your dealer would just LOVE to sell you a 7.5K generator! Probably for 3 or 4 grand too! That's way too much generator in my opinion. I, as well as others on this thread, recommend a 3K inverter generator by Honda, Yamaha, Champion. You want this thing to be semi-portable.

We are looking to purchase the 377 next year sometime. My question is where is the fuel tank located for the factory installed Onan 5500 generator and what is the tank capacity? Thank you.

The Factory Installed Generator gets its fuel from your fuel tank. Its feed tube is located about one quarter up from the bottom of the tank so you can never run out of fuel and will always be able to drive.

Generally runs from your propane tanks in a fiver.

Thanks for the reply, I found the answer to my question in a different thread. The gas powered Onan has a 10 gallon capacity tank located next to the unit itself. If the propane powered unit is selected then you are correct, the Onan draws fuel from your onboard LP tanks.
