Generator problems

We are having a problem with the one a/c unit overloading the generator. We used it fine all last summer now we can't turn a/c on without it overloading. Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be the RV a/c or the generator? Thanks
This is the one we have:

Hi, I’d say check out your a/c’s hard start capacitor. I assume it’s a 15k unit, correct? I’ve a 3100 Champion inverter genny and it can start one of my two 15k Coleman Mach ac units against old school mentality as each has a large heard start capacitor allowing a smaller gen to run them. If that’s the issue, I hear they are quite easy to replace and you can get them on Amazon.

Yes the main unit is 15k but neither will work

Generator problems

Another test is to try the generator on another camper with same 15k ac if possible. That would eliminate the generator issue.

You’re very welcome! Hope you find the issue soon and not an expensive fix.

Could be a bad capacitor as others have said. You could simulate a heavy load using items around the house.

I question the Generator. How often do you exercise your generator? How old is the fuel? What type of fuel do you use?

If you use traditional pump gas, and it has been in the tank all winter, I suspect your carb is gummed up.

Being it will run, you might try adding some SeaFoam in the gas and seeing if it will clear up, it may take a few days and tanks of fuel to clear up. I recommend only using Nonoxygenated fuel (ethanol free), and run the generator at 50% load at least once a month, to keep old gas from varnishing.

Sometimes the A/C high side can be under enough pressure to make a hard start. Just run the fan on high for awhile, then set on cool.
Just be patient and let the A/C starts on its own. If the "genny" overload trips just reset and have it on standby again.
