Generator question

I am new here and just purchased a 2018 377 rlbh. I have a 6500 Honda generator that has a 4 prong twist lock plug with 120/240 current via a selector switch. Can I run both A/C's on the 120v side of this plug? Seems as though I can but need advise. I am not electrically electically savy. It also has a standard 30 amp 3 prong plug and I know it will not work. I have a double pole 30 amp breaker in my barn that the camper has been plugged into since purchase, and it runs both fine. No other appliances will be used except fridge which is running now.
Thanks for any input.

Congratulations on the new North Point and welcome to the forum.

I have less electrical savvy than you, but there are members here that should be able to help.

Probably not.

What model of Honda 6500 watt generator do you have?

Technically this should work. I'm guessing that your cord for your 377 is a 4-prong 50A. By using the CAMCO 55422 dog-bone adapter you should be able to plug this adapter in your 4 prong 120/240 receptacle on your generator. Put the 120/240 switch on your generator on the 120/240 position. You should then have 2 legs of 120V with 22.9 Amps capability on each leg.

HOWEVER!

The generator manual says the draw of power should be balanced between each leg. That will not always be the case and may be an issue for the generator.

I'm not an expert on this so I hope someone that has tried this can chime in and comment.

This was what I was thinking but didn't want to fry something. There is video on YouTube with that doggone and it references running both ac's but he is demoing a 7000 inverter generator and never mentions it again.

Thanks for the help!!

It says 30 amp on the breaker button above so from that I would say NO you cannot run both A/C's

If it's a double pole breaker at 240 you surely can. That would be 30 amps per leg for a total of 60. If it's a single pole, than no you'd only have 30 between the two legs.

Earl
It is a double pole breaker with a selector for 120 or 240.
I have a double pole 30 in my barn and it runs it fine.
Just rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks For the response Mopar_Earl!
