GFCIs

Finally read through (1st time) the many books that came with my NP381. Never read about GFCIs anywhere. This is my first 50amp RV so I'm wondering about how many GFCIs I should have and their locations. During my initial inspection I located one under the kitchen counter, but during the test it did not shut off the living room TV (closest) during the test. One would think their should be one at the bath room sink? All exterior and cargo receptacles have the "GFCI protected" labels attached.

When I got the electric schematics from Jayco, the GFCI outlet in the bathroom was first inline, then to the kitchen, and finally to the outside outlets. One GFCI will protect a maximum of five devices. The other inside outlets weren't GFCI protected because they aren't near a water source. If you email Jayco with your model, VIN#, and year, they'll send back the schematics for your rig. We asked for electric, and plumbing.

My other RV had a front and back GFCI circuits. Of course they were 30amp. Are 50amp circuits divided into two circuits also?

A 50A RV service has 2 hot lines at 120V each which are never to be combined in an RV like a 240V service for a dryer. They are referred to as Line 1 and Line 2 or phases. Usually it alternates at the buss bar in the breaker panel.

30 A service has one hot line at 120V.

That is why a RV 50A plug has 4 prongs and not 3. The additional hot lead.

My unit has 2 GFCI's, both of which start at the bathrooms and out from there.

My fridge also has one outside in the access panel.

Just email Jayco and ask for them along with your VIN, they will email back a PDF. Sometimes they won't do it when your under warranty.
