X2, works quite well. Huge database of RV related services too.
Once configured, it will route you around low overpasses, too narrow roads, etc.

Using a Garmin that I previously had in my work vehicle. Love it! It has free lifetime map upgrades plus traffic. Look for these options when purchasing.
The traffic helps quite a bit. Being able to update the unit is outstanding. I update mine about once or twice a year.

I use the Garmin RV760 that I have added many custom Points of Interest
Files. I recommend that you visit POI Factory | GPS and other interesting topics and checkout the extensive list of files that can be downloaded to your GPS. There is a very complete campground listing file for the US that is constantly being updated.
The other site I would recommend data is available for Garmin, Microsoft Streets & Trips, Google Earth,TomTom, MapSource, and Rand McNally. You can access all of the formats that you require for your personal use. For a small yearly subscription this data is available for you to download to your GPS. An even better deal is to get a lifetime subscription and then you will receive all the updates. Go to LowClearances.com to update or get your subscription. This is by far the best source I have found for low clearances and is very easy to use.

Just curious in regards to GPS unit vs phone app like Copilot. What is pros or cons? My biggest concern with a GPS unit is I’ve already got a 7” backup camera monitor, TPMS monitor, and a dash cam Geez I feel like the space shuttle!!
Also for those of you with GPS units do you enter your destination night before so that’s one less thing to do on day you head out.
Oh and one last question. Any problems with GPS signal? Like remote areas? That’s a major concern of mine for phone app based GPS like Copilot
Thanks

I just watched a video that had a good overview of the Rand McNally OverDryve 7 RV GPS. Sounds like a nice unit.

I think that is the biggest benefit to a separate GPS. It reads off of multiple satellites, not cell towers, so if you're off in the boonies, your chance of getting a signal is much better.
Plus, it doesn't tie up your cell phone, so you can use the phone for other things (like surfing Amazon or updating your Facebook page ).

Garmin RV 770 and Low Clearance POI’s
Does anyone know if the Low Clearance POIs downloads from lowclearance.com will work on the Garmin RV 770? Sent an email to them but they won’t reply...

Not sure about the 770, but I tried downloading them to my 760 and it trashed my Garmin. Had to send it in and get another one. Other people have been successful.

We use our Garmin Nuvi and I wouldn't leave home without it! One feature that I enjoy is that it tells me approximately what time we will arrive. Also tells me that speed that we are traveling which seems to be more accurate than our dash speedometer. Also tells the altitude.

I bought the 770 in early May and we went on a 2000 mile trip at the end of May. The only thing I noticed was on a route from Niagara Falls, On, Canada to mid state New York to a remote out of the way campground it took me down some narrow roads with way too many turns then down a 12% grade. On the way out it took me on a different route that was much better. I could have went in that way, it would have been a little farther but a much better route. I had an issue last week with the Bluetooth phone app. Sometimes when it made a call it would shutdown and then reboot from scratch losing the call and leaving whoever I called hanging up on me. I called Garmin support and after a few minutes on the phones they said send it back and they would replace it. I sent it back yesterday they said I would get a replacement within 10 days. Long story even longer I like it a lot and am not disappointed.

My 770 has the same issue. Long haul routing is great. Rural areas can be sketchy. I once got sent down a back road that narrowed to one lane and over humped railroad tracks. I had to make my son get out to watch that I didn't get the trailer hung up on the tracks. Only cleared by a couple inches.

I also have a Good Sam GPS powered by Rand Mcnally. Pretty happy over all with it except in sunlight I can't read the screen very well even without sun glasses. Do anyone of you with garmins have that issue?

My Garmin has been easy to see, even with polarized sunglasses. I do have it mounted down at the front of the center console, so the sun isn't a factor.

My Garmin is on the top of the dash and there are no issues seeing the screen in the brightest of sunlight. I usually have my screen set at 75% brightness and it's bright and clear. I have a 8 year old Tom Tom and it is very bright also.

I'm testing Copilot and Sygic on my phone during this week's travels. Both download maps to the phone or sd card so you don't need a cell signal. Also, most Android phones have GPS receivers, just check that yours is using satellites rather that cell signals if that's an issue.
It's only been three days since my Garmin died (bad power connector) but so far my preference is for the Sygic app because it supports voice recognition. I can talk to it while driving rather than having to type in advance. Copilot app makes you select "car", "rv", or "truck" the first time you open the app, and if you choose rv it asks for dimensions. So far I haven't seen any differences in routing.

Based on comments hear and some on amazon reviews, We'll get the Garmin 770 before hitting the road full time in October.
After reading the wildly divergent reviews on Amazon, where some people claim the unit tried to kill them, it seems clear that with any RV GPS, you really need to fact check the proposed route ahead of time against another source and investigate cases of different routings.
I've been playing a lot lately with RV Trip Wizard and like a lot of the features. It's "safe routing" feature however is new and still in Beta. Has anyone else used it on the road yet, and if so, do you think it would be a reliable 2nd opinion?
Thanks
Angus

My Garmin is difficult to see sometimes with sunglasses. And it's mounted in the dash where the stereo would be because it's a multi-functional unit.
That being said, I don't usually have problems reading the maps, it's more the cameras and some of the other functions. But I haven't really played around with them to make it better.

Angus, I've played around with the RV Trip Wizard but I guess my IQ in dealing with it fails me. If I recall, there is about a 150 page downloadable manual which intimidates me
