Gravity fill on 2015 265RKS

Hi guys,

We are still newbies here and despite our research, we can't figure one thing on our fifth wheel: how to fill the fresh water tank when not using city water?

In the old days, you just had to remove a cap and stick the hose in the trailer to gravity fill it. This doesn't exist anymore on new models?

We arrived at the fresh water station of a park, where we were at for the weekend with no hookups (our idea of "roughing it"!), to fill up our fresh water tank. I'm attaching 2 pictures so you can see what our water station looks like on the 265RKS and what we had to work with.

The pump switch located at the station: I would assume this is for pumping winterizing fluid in the system... so we filled a small bucket of drinking water and tried to pump it using that switch, but that did not work either.

Do you just stick the plastic end of the hose at the filling station to your city fill with the filter and hopes it fills it? Do you need to run the water pump inside the 5w (to me, this seems to be only for pumping water that is already in the tank).

The user manual is less than informative when it comes to filling the fresh water tank. And our dealer probably thought we'd be plugged in all the time, so the walk-through didn't cover that at all.

Thank you for any advice & tips possible!

Cheers,

Interesting... I'm new to Jayco so I will be interested in this answer as well.

Hook the hose to the city water connection. Turn the water on. Move the blue lever to the tank fill position.
You will need a spigot that you can thread a short section of water hose to, since you will need to screw the male thread onto the city water fill on your coach. The one with the screen in the inlet. And by the way, shame on whoever did your walk through! You should have been given a demonstration of how all this works.

Thanks Krusegroup -

I guess this is what we didn't try... mostly because there was little pression coming out of that plastic tube to the water fill station. We thought it took higher pression (like when you're in full hookups) to fill water through that screen mesh.

Thanks again.

You bet. That water setup is made to fill containers, or the old style. You really need to be working with a standard spigot and a section of hose.

So the plastic tube from the park station, joined to a "water bandit", threaded onto a short section of hose, would be likely doing the job? Likely a slow fill process...

Will try that at the next opportunity! Thanks

Just curious, where is the overflow located so you know when it is full?

I suppose most of this will be obvious once I take delivery but I'm just preparing ahead of time.
