Ground clearance issue

Just purchased a 2017 38FLSA Pinnacle and find ground clearance is very poor has anyone had the same issue and if so what did u do to correct? Axel flip would gain 5.5" clearance but trailer is already at maximum legal load height for my jurisdiction!

I don't see a simple solution to your problem given your constraints on max height.

Do you mean leveling jacks or overall? We had no problem with our 2015. Some had concerns with the rear jacks on 2016/17 and just raised them up a bolt hole or 2.

Jacks were part of the problem but I already raised them and much as I could. It is the back hitch and tire now. Also emasserator.

I have a 2016 Pinnacle 38FLSA and although I have not had any issues with clearance so far (knock on wood), I have been concerned with how low the levelers and stabilizers are to the ground. I didn't realize they could be adjusted. Is it difficult with the enclosed underbelly of the unit?

Not sure what level system the 2016 used on the 2017 it is lippert generation 3. The motor is on the top of the levelling legs. If the motor has room between the enclosure then it can be moved up by unbolting the 6 plate bolts and moving to the next available hole or more. I moved my left rear up one hole as that was all the room I had, on the right I had 3 holes at about 1" change per hole. It is a tight area to work in and the bolts are tight.

We too have a 2017 38FLSA, here is what we do, removing the feet on rear and middle legs will give you more clearance. But I've scraped doing that also. What I do if going into events where ground is very un level. Remove all six bolts on leveling legs, turn them sideways and put in two bolts, takes about an hour each way

Thanks for your information. Certainly a lot of work I am going to comment to jayco on the poor design. They could have reduced the interior height with little issues and given better road clearance. We have had 3 jayco fifth wheels prior to this one and their clearance was never an issue.

I welded two metal rollers on the bracket of the rear hitch. The rear legs never touched because the bumper touch first

we have a 38refs. I have bottomed out numerous timeson back hitch. Jayco says the set up is just fine. If i had know { just did not look }the jacks were that close, would have done something different. There really is not any way to fix problem. Jayco really seems proud of thier set up. I think a class action law suit would be in order.

What good will rollers do in gravel or dirt I thought about rollers All you are going to do is put stress on the frame. Jayco would probably deny warranty claims.

You want to file a class action lawsuit because your 42' fifth wheel scrapes the rear bumper on unlevel ground?

This is our fourth jayco. No problem with the other units with clearence. A lot of work to turn jacks on angle and then put them back in upright position.

My mountain camp up in Keene NY has a steep hill that I need to go down. I was really worried about the jack and bumper clearance. It surprised me that it cleared. I was set to have to let air out of truck tires and shocks or even raise hitch but it cleared. I do agree that my unit could be made not as high. Six inches could be removed from height with no problems, just less height in basement spaces. The height of unit is my main concern. And why could lippert not made the jacks shorter but put drop downs on all of them like the landing gear

I feel your pain. After purchase of our 2017 NP we stopped at our sons house. On his street we caught (tore it down) the cable wire crossing over the street. No damage to our NP but it is now a concern while traveling. Our NP is 13' 4". Our last RV was 12'2" and we put 80k miles on it and never hit a wire. I do use Timbrens so clearance on the landing pads aren't much of a concern.

I carry cable cutter and insulated gloves with me. You can tell the phone and cable lines from power. Twice I had to threaten cable companies to raise wires or I would cut em down. In my old neighbor hood every now and than a new cable would go up and I would check it with my three piece pvc pole. If low I would call and give them two days to fix or I would cut.
That gets there attention
