Ground Control 3.0 ready to fail?

I've read Klassic's posts about the front landing jack failure. I have a 2017 Pinnacle that's been having the same symptoms, actually probably for a while, I just didn't recognize it. I thought I was doing something wrong in manual mode. The left leg is squealing at times, going into error mode. There have even been a couple times in lifting that the right leg lifted the left leg a little off the ground! One question is, if the leg fails completely, how do I get it hooked to the truck, then unhooked again once I get it back to storage? Etrailer now sells just the replacement leg but I couldn't get it to the state park I'm in before we have to leave. Not sure what to expect. Help.

We've had a few problems with new units coming through the shop with the 3.0
Myself I would carry a spare controller and a leg. You always can make a jacking point on the front chassis so you're able to use manual jacks.
PC operating systems work with sensors and controls for levelling, so many more things can go wrong with a box which travels on the road, special the way RV's get wired.

I had that happen to a different 5th wheel I had. I have two 12 ton bottle jacks I always carry. Placed the Jacks on each side and had a helper raise at the same time. I've also done by myself buy raising each side a little at a time. A pain, but it works.

The controller for 3.0 is around $440.The controllers for the room slides are around $500 +- and the motors the same. Replacement legs are around $400. I've replaced the legs, not technically hard just more muscle and finesse getting the leg out and the new one in. Never replaced a controller.

If the leg is squealing and you are getting a error code, it could be the leg has a slight bend in it. Hard to see looking at it but if you place your hand on the leg you can feel the vibration. We had to replace a landing gear leg on our Seismic for that very reason.

I have one bottle jack but I'm not sure if it would raise the rig high enough to get it hooked up. I guess I'll have to to see if the worse case does happen. If I can make it home as planned on Thursday, then I can order a new leg to have on hand.

An interesting note in the Lippert Ground Control 3.0, 4 and 6 Point OEM installation manual, for installations after June 1, 2018 it states if the trailet GVWR is greater than 15,500 lbs to contact Lippert engineering prior to installation. If the system is designed for 5th wheels with a GVWR of 15,500 or less what, if anything, is being done to accommodate the extra 1000 lbs that many of the Pinnacle models are rated. There is also a WARNING to not exceed GVWR. Just a thought.

That IS interesting.... Just an update, I have sent an email to Lippert, per Klassic's recommendation, about the issue with my left front jack. I am waiting to hear back from them. I will keep you posted.

My Pinnacle is well over 15,500...........wonder if it would do any good to contact Lippert and/or Jayco for "guidance".

I had a jack lock up on me and had to manually activate. Get a 50’ extension cord, 14ga preferably, cut ends off and connect alligator clips to that end than blue splice connectors to other. Unplug the jack motor connector and slide the blue connectors over the prongs on the motor side of connector. Connect clips to + and - of battery. If jack goes wrong way, reverse clips.

So just updating my front jack situation.... I emailed Lippert and they responded the next day. They are shipping me the front jack/motor assembly at no charge. It should be here Tuesday. Then I guess I'll be replacing it myself. Hopefully that won't be too complicated. Unfortunately, even though I emphasized the fact that the opposite leg had been doing most of the work for a while, they did not offer to replace that one. So only time will tell.

if it is a lippert mechanical jack, they made a provision on the top and bottom of the electric motor to drive the motor with a 5/16" socket using a ratchet or electric drill.
