Heat pump does not work

I saw a post of the rear ac unit and middle heat pump being switched so heat pump not connected. I have the same problem. I bought unit one year old, so no warranty. To switch is $500. Jayco says sorry not covered. How many others have had same problem?
Mine is 2021 Jayco Northpoint.

Jayco said since original owner did not notice the heat pump was placed in wrong area, they don’t care. It is at my expense. They suggested I look for a cheaper repair shop. I can’t believe they admitted the Jayco dealership is too expensive to use for this repair.

Not only should the first owner have noticed it, so should have the selling dealer before it was even delivered. As to the cost, all dealers are independent and not franchised since they sell other brands. JAYCO would be basing their comment on the industry average.

I don't think you'll be happy with the heat pump anyway. Get a Heater Buddy and you wont even start your on-board furnace. I went though a complete Winter (25-35 degree nights) in a 321 RSTS and the Heater Buddy was main source of heat. They work very well.

Presume you are referring to propane fueled buddy heater.
How did you put buddy heater in your rig? Did you have a 20lb tank inside or did you run separate gas line?

i use the 1-lb bottles which makes it easy moving the 'Buddy Heater' around in the trailer. The cost of those little bottles are starting to go up, almost doubled over the last year. I'm thinking of getting the Flame King 1 Lb bottles and refill kit so i can fill them off a 20lb tank. Their refill system gets the 1lb bottles filled to 80% which equals fill of store bought bottles. I can get 2-1/2 nights off one bottle. Those heaters can easily cook you out, they warm up pretty nice.

Ray at loveyourRV has a video showing installing the a separate gas line. I would rather have the mobility of moving the heater around though. This is a link to HomeDepot for the FlameKing refill kit

Northpoints don't have heat pumps unless you order them with it.

Should have been discovered definitely on the PDI. The PDI for a newbie, and I was there once, is hard if you don’t know every aspect and what to look for.

So I can’t say the original new owner was at fault if they had no idea what to look for. How many of us in all reality do know unless you have been around or worked at a RV manufacturer to have a good handle on all points of a build.

My next one if bought new will definitely get the once, twice and three fold look over and functional test performed before we sign off.

Good luck and yes, the hourly rate is not dictated by any manufacturer as stated. Now warranty work may be the only thing the dealer cannot charge whatever as an agreement to carry that brand I highly suspect.

I'm not familiar with Heater Buddies, but I've used propane heaters in RV's for years.
I'd suggest one with an oxygen sensor and tip-over switch.

NO.. Big difference between a propane heater and a propane furnace...

Furnaces use outside air for combustion and also vent to the outside. A propane heater uses inside air for combustion and does not vent to the outside.

The heater buddies come with those safety features.. I don't think anyone using those would actually run them longer than a couple hours inside an RV. They warm up pretty quick. I have used mine in 30 degree weather many times and find i cycle on off about every hour, and thats on low. We never use it when we turn the lights off but it comes on early in the mornings.. we love our Buddy
