Heater
Hello,
I have a new 2016 355mbqs with a wall mounted thermostat that has the option for cooling and heating. The a/c works perfect but when I switch to heat nothing happens. I verified the gas is on because the stove is working. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks

well when ours is switched to heat and the thermostat is adjusted up to a temp higher than what it is inside the camper our fan comes on and then the heater ignites and begins to heat.... I don't know why your furnace wouldn't at least turn the fan on unless a wire is loose somewhere

well just make sure it is on auto and heat setting and turned up to a high enough temp to call for heat

do you have any access to the furnace control board to check for loose wires

furnace is in the bunkroom on the 355. Mine is very quiet. I didn't think it was turning on either but there is heat coming out all the vents.
Check all your fuses and your breakers.

Yea, this is probably my fault for not being more specific... what I meant to say was THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD RUN THROUGH ALL YOUR SYSTEMS AT PDI. TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. I was trying to be a little more gentle by wording it as a question.

You can try removing the thermostat and jumping the power wire with the heat wire and see if the furnace starts. That will eliminate a problem with the Tstat. I know you said the AC works but there could be a problem with the system control switch or the board. You can also verify all wiring is correct and nothing has become disconnected in the wall.
This will be the easiest place to start.

Actually it was about 95 degrees when I bought it. I actually don't remember them checking the furnace with me. As far as the quietness of the furnace the fans aren't even coming on even tho they work with the ac

I doubt you or they could have checked the furnace at the PDI with those outside temps. I assume you checked your 12V fuses and pulled them to visually check for a blown fuse. My distribution panel has an LED beside each fuse that is supposed to illuminate when the corresponding fuse is blown or pulled but they have to be seated just right to work. Not sure on your 5er but on my TT the furnace is buried under the couch and enclosed in a wood box so checking anything on it is nearly impossible without a great deal of effort.

The fans that are on the AC unit(s) are separate fans entirely. I would start by pulling the thermostat and make sure the wiring is connected.
On the 355MBQS the furnace is in the middle bunkhouse room underneath the desk on what would be the front wall. I've not pulled the grill off mine and that is likely just the intake air. My guess is that to get to the actual wiring you will remove the false wall on the backside of your passthrough storage to find the ducting connections and the actual wiring.
Unless you really want to dig into it yourself, other than checking the connections on the back of the thermostat it's probably best to make a trip to the dealer.

For the future, or for someone else, all you have to do is run the AC and cool down the interior enough to get the heater to turn on. I would never pick up a travel trailer without checking every single function. It avoids issues just like this. You learn how to use it AND you learn that it works as designed.
Either way, take it back to your dealer and have them diagnose and fix it.
