Heater

Hello everyone,
I have a question on our 2016 Pinnacle 38flsa. Here it is, we live in our 5th wheel and just recently our heater comes on it blows a odor out that smells like a burnt pilot. It's not like every time just seems more at night. Also, this problem came just about the time of smell and it's not all the time either. We have the thermostat set at 72 and heater kick on at 68? Note: When I looked outside at the furnace vent it appears to have a more black burnt on it, is that normal? Thank you

Sounds like the air/fuel mixture is out of whack. Running too lean perhaps? Is there a way to clean and adjust the burner?

YouTube is a good place to start. There are many videos relating to RV trouble shooting.

Usually when a furnace or HWT is producing soot on the outside its running to rich. Not much in the way of adjustment on these devices, it could be a bad regulator or just dirty, as others said check out Youtube for some ideas. Make sure your CO detector is working, if you are smelling it inside thats not good.
