Heater issue

We spent the night for the 1st time in our new Eagle 355MBQS. The heater worked but the therosmostat kept kicking the heater off. It was 28 F outside, 40 F inside. I just kept kicking up the temp a couple degrees at a time, it would run a few minutes then kick off. I repeated this through the night. Ended up with the thermostat at 85 in the morning and 40 inside. Any thoughts?

Check that if it is blowing warm air directly on thermostat. Heard others with the problem of cold air on thermostat while on AC.

Also, consider upgrading to a digital thermostat if you have a mechanical, but I bet on hot air triggering the thermostat.

I'll have to check the the thermostat situation when I go back up there. There are several of the wall-mounted little thermostats through out the coach. I wonder which one controls the heater in the jaycommand center.

This was the case for me in my coach. The register in the hall was pointing directly at the thermostat shutting everything down. I turned it away toward the living area and it solved my issue.

right below the two thermostats are heating vents and they are just open vents with no directional function. Looks like i have to find some on Amazon. Thanks RogerR and NewBlackDak. I am a Newbie/Greenhorn and have a lot to learn.

Here's some damped vents to look at. I had to replace one I knelt on wrong.

Did the same thing. Being in my mid 70's, I heard the cracking noise and had to stop for a second to verify whether I heard my knee or the vent cracking.
Anyway, I replace it with the same vent JFlight mentioned. Works great.

So, the 355MBQS is essentially the same unit as the 357MDOK, except with a reversed living room setup.

You may want to check out this thread, as well, where I and others troubleshooted basically the same issue. In my case, Jayco used WAY TOO MUCH ducting behind the furnace. After cutting down and straightening out the duct work, my furnace efficiency increased a ton.

Thanks JayG7800, That thread was very helpful. We are currently fixing odd and ends in our house to sell it. It will be listed in 2 short weeks. Then its the full-time RV life for me, my wife and 3 dogs. Now I know what to look for.
