Height of AC with heat pump on North Point

Picked up my new 2019 North Point 375 BHFS two weeks back. When I inspected the unit, it was missing two options I had specified and were on the dealer order form. One of these was the heat pump option on the main AC.

The dealer said they'd take care of it and replaced the unit on the roof with a unit that had the heat pump.

Flash forward to yesterday and I stop by an Escapees "Weigh Safe" area to get my weight measured. They also happen to measure the height and I was very surprised when it came out at just over 13' 9.5" tall since I expected 13' 5.25" per the Jayco spec. This is a big deal since 13' 6" is a key height point for Interstates.

I suspect what may have happened is that the unit the dealer installed on the roof is not intended as the AC with heat pump option for my North Point. My front AC unit is just 9.5" but the dealer installed an AC with heat pump unit that is 14.5" tall.

Can someone else please verify the model and/or height of their main AC unit with heat pump and/or compare height to their front master bedroom unit?

Thanks!

I am having the same issue. Frustrating to me is that Jayco doesn’t spec a low profile air for the front knowing that we are dangerously close to the height of a semi.

I have the Eagle 355MBQS

I am having my dealer change out mine for the low profile that will save me about 7” in height. The Heat pump version looks to be the same.

Unfortunately it looks like I may have to foot the bill for this one.

I also have a new 355MBQS and I'm at 13'7" level and 13'10" hooked to the truck. I was surprised it didn't come with a low profile unit up front. I went to our dealer and checked the others on the lot and all had a full height unit. Might not be a big problem out west but here on the east coast its huge.

Rckcrwlr Are you thinking of replacing the A/C only unit with a low profile heatpump unit?

I can double check mine tomorrow during the day. I have the heat pump on our 377 as well and both units are pretty close in height.

CW tried that with my 377. It had a tall unit on front. I would not sign papers till they swap it out for the 15,000 low pro. They did it while I waited. It's amazing how fast they can do something if they want their money. After the sale it takes 2 or 3 mounts just to get appointment.

IIRC JAYCO is using the low profiles on both the NP and Pinnacle. The dealer installs are where the problem is.

Agreed. Most non highway Underpasses in PA and surrounding states are 13’9”. Hovering around that makes you nervous when getting off the highway heading to the campground.

Can you adjust your hitch to keep your trailer close to level when connected to you Towrig?

Debating on the heat pump. Have heard pros and cons with it. Not sure we need it but a few trips early in spring and now.

I have a 2019 Eagle 321RSTS which was 13'8" when level and hooked to my truck. My dealer told me "no big deal" they are all like that! I called Jayco direct and explained it was 2" over the legal limit. I sent Jayco the pictures of my FW hooked to the truck with the measurements and they authorized to have the unit switched out with a low profile AC on the front. I suggest you call Jayco customer service direct and explain the problem. I have read other post that Jayco has done the same on other Eagles.

Unless you are using the unit for extended trips I think you are just as well off with space heaters. We had a HP in both our 08 and 2015, but we would use it for 30 or more days at a time before we started "wintering" in the South. When FL nights cooled down it was worth having.

I special factory ordered my 2017 Eagle 293RKDS with a low profile AC unit for the bedroom to keep my height down. Dealer had to make calls to get it added to the build sheet as it wasn't an option.

Both of my units are 15 Mach 8. The main unit is a Mach 8 Plus Heat pump. The regular unit measures 9 inches while the heat pump measures in at 9.25 inches so not much difference between both units. Pictures are of the heat pump first and then the front unit.
