Hello guys and gals I want to plan a trip cross country so I want the best route.

I hope this is the right place to put this but the DW and I might have to leave from Seattle to North Carolina this year for family health reasons my mother again, so I want to start planning now a good route. What do you think of this one leaving Seattle to North Carolina?

I always use a combination of google maps, good Sam trip planner and CAA trip planner. Pros and cons to each one.

RV Life Trip Wizard is excellent for planning a multi-state trip.

x2^^^What he said.....plus you can see any low clearance hazards, elevation and grades and rv campgrounds along the selected route. That is what I use.

Thank you guys, and this is with good Sam Trip Planner, when I went there they gave me a few routes you can see the route they gave me at the top and two are at the bottom of that but I chose to go with the middle the one that is in the light blue route.

The first Question: WHEN? Is this trip in the middle of February? or in August?

So you are coming back to Goldsboro? I seem to remember you had back issues last year, trust you are doing better. Will you stay again at the KOA in Bridgeton?

Without knowing the time of year and if potential winter snow storms or summer tornadoes this is very generic advice. Without knowing the amount of time you have to make the trip and what things you would like to do, is also very generic advice. It's speed the priority or easy driving.

Given two choices I find getting or staying south first is cheaper and better weather except in the heat of the summer.

I would avoid 94 through that area.

Yes sir, going back to Goldsboro, we will probably stay at Seymour Air Force Base in Goldsboro if they have any space we seem to like it there better because it's closer to all of my relatives.

Thank you sir for your comment, I'm doing a little pre-planning trip now my mother health wise is not doing too well so when we get the word to come see my mother I want to be able to have this done and work on packaging some more clothes, food, water, etc.

Yes I agree, I have redone this also as you will see in my latest map route I want to stay as far away from that area because of other things, you know for I don't want to disclose much here of their 2A laws.

It's a few miles longer but it's well worth it to me, on my last trip I had a couple of close cause on one incident I came so close on d****** so I don't and will not leave home with it as you know.

Having pulled my trailer across country in the summer and riding my touring motorcycle in a summer cross country trip.... The only advice I can give on any trip is use a good RV trip adviser program to avoid areas that can get you into trouble with bridges, tunnels, etc . And.... Be prepared for thunder storms across the Midwest. They can change course, merge and in general, create issues with winds, hail and flooding. Plan a good route. Be prepared to stay a day for weather delay. Get your rig checked out with tires, brakes, bearings, etc... Then go and enjoy the trip!

If you want and have the time I would see the north entrance of Yellowstone, come across South Dakota and see Little Bighorn Monument, and catch The Badlands NP. Then come south through the western edge of Iowa and stop at Land Between the Lakes (Tennessee/ Kentucky) border and go through Nashville I40 across east Tennessee thru Knoxville. Have a look at that if you want to see some of these sights. Hope you have a great trip and hope your visit for medical attention works out good.

If you want to see America on the way, get off the interstate for some or all of the trip.
