Donedroolin,
You should also check
NADA RV section to get an idea on the trade-in value of your current Eagle.
Then with the value of 30% off Jayco's MSRP (as others have indicated) and the NADA Low & Average Retail values, you should be ready to start bargaining.
Just remember that it's a numbers game.
High Price & High Trade-In value or Low Price & Low Trade-In value, but bottom line works out to be the same.
You can't expect to get a low price & high trade-in value.
FYI - the way I've always approached buying vehicles and RVs, I'll bargain by "
I'll give you my trade and this amount of $".
That $ includes tax, prep, destination, filing, DMV, etc. That is, all other charges they add.
I figuring out what my target $ amount is by:
30% off Jayco's MSRP
- NADA Trade-in value (or trade-in value I want to get)
= base price
+ Tax
+ Delivery
+ DMV / Reg / Insp
+ Dealership fees (e.g., prep, filing, tire fee, etc.)
= $ amount
Then I deal by I'll give you my trade + this $ amount for that trailer.
The dealership can work the numbers anyway they want as long as the bottom line is equal to the $ amount.
Hope this makes sense and helps some.
