Hooking Up 5th Wheel

I am new to this but used to drive 18 wheelers. Can we hook up a 5th wheel on a slant or from the side or do we have to back straight up. Close quarters in the spot I am in.

unless you have a rotating pin box, which based on the equipment in your signature isn’t likely, you can hook up from an angle. Keep in mind though, unlike an 18-wheeler, you have a truck body and tailgate to think about. Given the lack of maneuvering room I have at home I’m often a a slight angle when hitching and a pretty sharp angle when unhitching.

It can be done but you have to make extra allowances for clearance for tailgate when it is down. I try to be careful in choosing a site so I don't have to do that. It can get tight when you go to pull out and you have to be extra careful.
