Hot water suddenly stopped

Help! Of course, husband who is never gone left for the weekend to visit his Mom and I’m having an issue with hot water valve. I was 2 min into a shower and suddenly the hot water went instantly to cold water. Water still comes out shower when turned to hot water side but much less pressure and only cold. And now when I turn the faucet on in kitchen and bath no water comes out when turned toward hot water side - just a dribble. We’ve been in this location for a few weeks and all has worked fine until now. Light is still on for electric hot water heater in control panel.

Could be the check valve on the WH some have been having issues. It's on the output side of the WH and is plastic most who replaced bought the brass version.
