How do you turn off the step light going up to the bedroom

Folks - this little light that is on the wall beside the steps going up to the bedroom is a great idea but - PIA!

I can blink my eye and it will come on and stays on forever. I put tape covering the sensor with black tape and that did nothing.

Has anyone had expiernce with this light and how to disable it?

You can't disable it, it's motion sensored. You'd have to replace it. In all four corners is a screw underneath the square black cover. Drill through the plastic to expose the screws then replace it. The covers come off but you could risk damaging the wall. I have some pics of when I did it. I'll find them.

In the first pic, you can see the lamp without the black cover.

I got a multiple pack.

Sounds like yours is defective. Jayco only put one of the lights in ours, I think on the upper step. I got up one night and completely missed the bottom step in my sleep fog. I hit the floor pretty hard but only damaged my pride. I have since added a second one so now both steps light up. The lights are pretty sensitive but ours don't come on unless we are near the steps. They will stay on for a bit, go off and come back on a few times before completely going off. Not sure why that happens but it doesn't last long so it doesn't bother me. As stated, they are hard wired so you have to remove it to get it disconnected.

So what happens if I just cut the wires going to the light and just put it back on the wall? Will that cause a fault somewhere?
