How to....Quick Connect Propane to Grill?

I've tried to research this but I've become so confused. Anyway....I have a propane hose coming from my 2 propane tanks in the 5er that terminates into a quick connect fitting underneath the back of the 5er. I want to hook up this quick connect to my camping grill/stove. What kind of connection or adapter do I need? Thanks for any advice!

Camping World along with many of the propane parts stores sell the propane quick connect. I'm sure it's made specifically for gas such as propane.

Depending on your stove you will need some additional fittings. If CW is not nearby I would suggest Amazon. Camco makes a 10 ft quick connect hose with the two fittings already installed on it then you will need another 1/4 propane quick connect fitting to plumb to the back of your stove.

This will give you the ability to connect into the existing fitting and remove the hose for travel.

There are several threads on this forum with how too's for the various grills out there, i.e. Webber, Camp Chef and Coleman.

Hopefully this will be of some help to you. It worked great for me connecting both a Weber Q100 and Camp Chef Oven/Cooktop.

I have the weber Q. Adapted the stand to fit my Q. Then removed the fitting off the grill that came with the trailer, then removed the regulator off the Q and installed the quick connect fitting there. Same thread size and all. No adapters needed.

You will need a valve with no regulator on it to attach the hose at the grill. Good luck finding the hose you need with the quick coupler ends on it that is more than 3' long. Been searching for a while. You can buy them off ebay, or do what I finally did and that was to cut the short hose I had, and splice a 10' section in the middle. Now I can get the grill out from under the awning and put it where I want.

edit Guess I should have opened the link in post #4. That is exactly what you will need.

I ended up purchasing the Olympian grill and it came with a short hose which I have attached to a 10' extension. Everything connects fine. Will test it out tomorrow.

Just make sure you remove the regulator that comes on most grills designed to use the 1 lbs. propane bottles. Otherwise, you'll be regulating pressure twice; which will prevent your grill from getting hot enough for a nice sear on your steaks.

By the way, what time did you say dinner would be ready?

I don't know if most people are like me, but I tried with a connector that I used for my air compressor, Then I found out the connector for gas is not the same connector, went to Steve Rv and bought the correct one.

Quick Connect Propane to Grill

So I have read through these posts and want to make sure I understand. My unit has a rear quick connect valve for a gas grill. Actually two, the other is for the outside kitchen Capital Grill. I bough an adapter at CW to hook into my Webber Q series gas grill. Opened the valve at the quick connect and waited. Started up my grill and it lit but never could get it hot enough to cook a burger. It’s like it has no pressure or will not get a big flame.

I have used my gas grill with both the small blue propane cylinders and with an adapter hooked to a large propane tank and they both work well. Do I really have to tear my grill apart and take off the regulator? Or could it possibly be a problem on my new units propane system?

Thanks for any advice, help, or comments.

Sounds like you are double regulated!

Thanks. That’s what I am thinking also because of how it is acting. I assume the line is regulated coming from my propane tanks on the RV and then again at my grill. Never a dull moment!!!

Ding Ding Ding... we have a winner...

Yes, the line on the RV is already regulated, so you don't need the standard regulator on the grill. You can get a aftermarket QD hose that will screw directly on the grill, and you take the existing hose/regulator off and save it when you need to connect to a standard propane bottle or tank.
