We do the same thing. I take a towel and hang over the top of the door to just hold it open a small amount.

I'm reading that so many people are using props to keep the fridge door(s) open. I believe that most of the newer rv's have a built in slider near the handle to keep the door(s) open when stored.

refrigerator closed.

Look at the handles and there is a small tab that can be slid over to keep the refrigerator and freezer doors from fully closing. If you have a problem, call the dealer and he will advise. This will allow the air to circulate.

That small tab is located in the well of the handle and the end will protrude beyond the edge of the door when actuated

Your all making replays that dont have a 28.5 and dont understand the OP's problem. When the kitchen slide is all the way in it is literally up against the island. My fridge has a rub mark the size of a nickel from the island on the fridge door. There is absolutely no room to engage those door hold outs or crack the fridge open at all. I mean no room so its either all the way open or all the way closed.

If I had your rig, I would choose to leave them open and open the slide before turning it back on for the next trip.

There's nothing worse than the sour smell of a closed and off fridge unless you can use the charcoal method that several have mentioned.

Often when we turn ours off it has ice on the cooling fins and we place a few layers of paper towels to soak it up and allow it to evaporate.

We don't have the same unit but the same issue. We also have the residential refrigerator. The freezer side door has a dent in it trying to keep it open - DW was placing something between the 2 doors to keep them open. Now she waits until the slide is in & opens the doors. Very frustrating that the engineers didn't take this into consideration when designing the units.

We turn the refrigerator off and leave the doors open until it dries out. This does require leaving the slide out. Once the refrigerator dries out we put a plastic tub with baking soda in it in the refrigerator and the freezer and close the doors. We then close the slide. We haven't had any problem with mold, mildew, or smell.

After letting it air out and wiping it out - We put baking soda and BOUNCE dryer sheets in it for the winter

Are you talking about charcoal you use on a grill? If so, how much of that charcoal do you put in the freezer and refrigerator? How many briquettes?

Never use charcoal briquettes, they are full of fillers and petrochemicals. Activated charcoal can be used, in fact, it is food safe even for ingestion.

Occasionally, it sits at the dealership for a month or so awaiting warranty work and I wipe all the moisture out of the fridge and freezer and keep both doors closed. So far so good.
