We were camping in southern Rhode Island, we were supposed to be there until the 31st but they evacuated the campground today. We are back home in Northern Mass hoping to go back to the campground Tuesday, Stay safe everyone.
I really feel for the OP in the hospital and unable to get his rig out in time.

I am certainly hoping for the best outcome for everyone that is affected by the hurricane. I don't put blame on others that I don't know what their circumstances are, however I do agree that all in danger that can leave should leave. Those on the outskirts of the hurricane should prepare the best that they can with the limited time left that they have.

Lived on the Gulf Coast for total of 65 years. The East side of the storm is most dangerous. Stay safe. If RV is at your house do not leave power plugged up to it. Make sure gas is turned off. If it’s a trailer you may think of removing propane tanks and storing them in a more secure place in case the storm takes the trailer for a ride.

This is interesting:
https://www.cruiseamerica.com/rv-adv...-rv-high-winds
No hurricanes up here, but wind gusts exceeding 70mph happen more often than I'd prefer. Once or twice a year. We saw lots of trailers spun around, none flipped, last year when the Chinook winds steamrolled down the Front Range and slammed into a state park.
The park is wide open with no windbreaks.

We live on a small farm in Eastern North Carolina. When Florence came through a few years back, a friend that lives by the ocean brought his Airstream to ride the storm. Parked it on the highest point that we have here that was in the clear from all trees by a good distance. We chocked it and then prayed for the best. He also brought his Grady White boat and parked alongside. They both did fine.

We left our boat and small travel trailer chained to a tree in our back yard. Filled the boat with water.
When we returned after the storm my boat was sitting pretty, the lazy trailer however had laid over on its side.

It may have been worse in some areas but the highest recorded wind speeds at an airport near the center of Long Island was 21 more gusting to 38 mph.

We have had way worse Noreasters. And contrary to what some believe we are prepared anyway. We always have fueled up snow removal equipment and also most of us now have permanent home generators and a basement in case of tornado.
Noreasters don't get a name cause they are not tropical in origin. We get at least 3 a year. They would have a name were they tropical.
We had a drought and now we have had so much rain it takes nothing for a tree to fall over as the ground is soggy
Now give us an earthquake and we are not prepared though magnitude 2-3 are regular occurrences. A tornado makes us curious. But they do happen.

Yep, henri Created a large commotion on line and for everyone in its ever changing direction but luckily it rapidly decreased in strength leaving most with massive power outages and soggy ground.
Easy to say if you are not in it but we have been many times and can only give thanks it was not here this time but the active part of the season is not peaked.

Meanwhile Waverly TN is wiped out simply by rain. With no warning. 2 toddlers dead 19 others and an equal number still missing.

Yes we have followed it closely as we have family west of Nashville that are ok as of last night.
What a mess.

There's quite a bit of information on this subject. I remember ahead of Katrina there were several folks who used airplane tie-downs to anchor the RV.

Last Year we were in a Cat 1 Hurricane . We were at Myrtle Beach SC in our 2019 Panicle. 36SSWS we were Ocean Front. It shook the Camper when the gust came but the only damage was the Awning Caps blew away. 74 to 95 MPH winds. I would not ride out another one. I will take it to a shopping center and park behind a building.

We were in Aransas Pass, Tx for hurricane Harvey in a Pinnacle. It moved the front over two feet and destroyed the slide topper awnings and a few interior stress cracks but it came thru when 27 other campers were on their tops or sides in the park. Not fun!!!

We were in Myrtle Beach one August years back and they evacuated the entire beach. All campgrounds and hotels were ordered to mandatory evacuate.
We left and came home along with thousands who clogged every road out of there for hours. We made a 2 hour drive home in 6 hours.
BTW, next morning the storm jogged east and missed the beach.

Yea I think they start Evacuating at Cat 2 or 3. Ours was suppose to be a Cat 1 then a tropical storm then at the last min switched back to a Cat. 1.

Hardly any wind and a little rain. We must’ve been in a part of it and it missed us completely. I asked if 85 mile an hour winds would blow it over and it’s amazing how far off topic it went. I never said we were staying in it and people wanted us to leave town. Anyway thank you for all those that replied.
