I'm surprised I haven't seen Grand Design come up in this discussion. I have seen some nice stuff from them and they would at least get my consideration when replacement time comes.

I have a friend with a 33’ Grand design, very similar to full size Jayco 5th wheel with slightly better amenities than Jayco.

Our first trailer was a 2010 Jayco JayFeather. We really liked that trailer.

Our current trailer is a 2015 Whitehawk. We also really like this trailer, but we've noticed the quality diminish from our 2010 to the 2015. For instance, the shower walls are really thin, the shelves in the shower have no structural strength to them. Also, the sink in our Whitehawk cracked on the latest trip. We keep our Keurig in the sink and I guess the bouncing around caused the sink to crack. Upon inspection of the sink, the base is super thin....and plastic...a little disappointing.

I think I will look at Grand Design for our next trailer. I'm not sure if they are worth the premium, but they sure look nice.

I would have to say grand design, I would have just bought one but the thing holding me back is the interior, I don’t think it has changed since they started building their rv’s, way outdated.

Been shopping the Grand Design Momentum. They have changed some of the interior color on the island, the sofa and all of the bedroom. Very nice looking.

If we had a Cedar Creek dealer near us, we probably would have gotten another one of them. We loved our first one, the quality was fantastic but that was back before everything started to get made quicker and cheaper. I guess we can't complain too much because we got in the Pinnacle at such an affordable price, the trade off is the repeated trips to the dealer for repairs.

I'll be looking hard at the OutdoorsRV rigs. They are owned by Northwood.

Based solely on previous experience with the brand, we'd probably go back to Keystone. If still in a 5er, it'd either be a Montana High Country (which we considered before getting the Eagle) or a Montana.

If not Jayco for the next rig I'll be looking at Northwood or maybe Bigfoot.

How is the dealer network for Northwood in your area? We just have one left in West Milton PA, which is approx 4 hours away from us. That is the only dealer in the surrounding states.

If I were to buy a new trailer it would be a Grand Design, They make one with the same floor plan as the 28BHS that I really like. With that being said, their trailers are not available in the aluminum siding, which I personally prefer, too many issues with delamination of the fiberglass laminated walls.

On the other hand, my trailer is paid off, no payment, all the bugs are worked out, guess I will stick with what I have.

My next purchase might be a Dutchmen. The couple we camp with bought a new Dutchmen last year at the same time we bought our 2020 Jayco 235 RKS. Both units were the same price ($28K), but the Dutchmen came with so many extras. Little things like battery boxes, propane cover, powered front jack, lights inside the storage area, outside handrail, porcelain toilet and a bunch of other items were not on our Jayco. Just recently I noticed one of the interior wall panels was not stapled correctly and started to bulge. It's only a 10 minute repair so not worth dragging it back to the dealer for them to fix it, but I did ask them to supply the wall tape because the original can't be reused. This stuff is 99 cents/foot and I need 8 feet. I've been trying for 3 weeks to get an answer to see if they could send me this and cover under warranty, but still no reply after 6 e-mails. It's not a matter of money but more principle. Even though we are talking about $8 worth of tape, Jayco said they may not warranty it and said if I wanted the tape it would cost me an extra $20 to ship it to me because I'm in Canada. So basically, Jayco is going to lose a future customer ( I buy new every 3 years) over $8.
Not cool customer service!

I had a Rockwood (Forest River) High Wall Popup. Top of the line for this brand.
Build quality: Acceptable.
Features: Amazing for what it was.
Service: I didn't diddle with trivial stuff. I fixed that. But when the feces really hit the fan, they were there for me.

My roof (fiberglass over a very lightweight wood structure) began to delaminate, the rig was about 4.75 years off the lot. The roof had a 5 year warranty. They took care of it. This was about a $4000 to $5000 repair on a $16,000 new rig.

Also, over time I contacted them for this and that...mostly advice and some parts (freshwater tank for example). I was always treated with the utmost respect. The big one. I wanted to install solar on the roof. I needed to know what to expect when I started drilling. Where are the wires? How thick is the material? What's the best way to attach? A Rockwood expert spent about 15 minutes going through everything I needed to know including advising to use bolts through the whole roof because everything is tissue thin (for weight). The install went without a hitch. Same when I wanted to lift my suspension (torsion axle) for off-roading. I got first class advice on what to buy, and how to install it PROPERLY. I had a local auto repair shop install it, because they put the rig on a lift and had an axle carrier to make the job easy. But they relied on Rockwood's advice on how to do it right.

I own my X213 because Rockwood (FR) doesn't make anything quite like it. If they did, I'd own the Rockwood. I love my Jayco, but I think the Rockwood was superior.

I can’t help but stop and stare at Airstream campers every time I see one in the wild. I know they have their own problems but when I see a 30 year old Airstream that still looks beautiful I can’t help but want one. If they weren’t twice the cost and I had expendable income I’d have a shiny new one in my driveway.

In response to your question.... I currently own a Jayco Hummingbird and it probably will be my last. I have previously owned several Forest River brands namely Coachman Owning 3 units I only had 2 service calls over the period of ownership with minimal construction problems. Far superior in their coaches and TT over Jayco.
Have visited both factories in the past and found Coachman again superior in layout and worker attitude.

We’ve owned Jayco, Rockwood and Primetime/Forest River.
We love the new Jayco. I can only speak to what we’ve owned, so I would recommend Rockwood and NEVER a Primetime/Forest River. We had a new P/FR 2015 38’ TT and 2018 34’ 5th Wheel, and had nothing but problems from the beginning. We finally had enough and got a 2020 37’ 5th wheel. Quality difference is like day and night. Will never go back to Primetime/Forest River.

My NEXT CHOICE will be Grand Design. They are about 20% higher priced than Jayco, but in the last eight years, my first Jayco (Jayflight SLX 185RB) was a GREAT RV, my last one (Jayfeather 23RL) not so much. I will say, the Jaycos, both of them are miles ahead of the FR Salem Cruise Light 241QBXL I had. I'm figuring about three more years in the Jayco and I'll trade it at Farr's RV in Lubbock for my final one.

New RV

I have a 2015 Jayco now but if I had to replace it I’d go with a Outdoors RV TT.
