Insta Hot - so you never run out of hot water

Not sure I'm using correct term "Instahot". Dealership is suggesting we have this installed so we never run out of hot water. It's basically like a tankless water heater system for a house. You don't get instant hot water, you just don't run out of it. It will just be my husband and myself 95% of time, so not sure worth costs. I can't remember what she quoted.

Thanks

Wife and I have never run out of hot water and we only use the elec side when on shore power. If you have a standard gas/elec wh run it on both and it increases output if needed.

Insta-hots are not the same as a tankless water heater. Insta-hots only use electricity to work and a lot of it but are small and can be mounted under a sink.

Hot water

Probably “ Aqua-Hot “
Make sure to get the “ Comfort “ model - it is $100 - $200 more than the basic model but it has freeze protection- this water heater has a 1 liter tank so that you don’t get the cold flashes that the “ Girard “ brand surprises you with.
It is pricey at $1500+ installed but the DW says it is our best upgrade & worth every penny Les

What Grumpy said. Wife and I camp with kids and grandkids a lot. When it's just the two of us the ele side of the water heater keeps up just fine. When there are more folks and showers are coming back to back, we just flip the gas on along with the electric and nobody has complained about running out of hot water yet.

Don't do it!

Keep your water heater with the tank!

We have the tankless water heater, and it takes FOREVER to get hot water to the taps. It's not a huge problem when we're at parks and can dump the holding tanks, but when boondocking, it wastes a lot of fresh water. People here have installed re-circulation lines to put all the cold water back into the fresh tank while waiting for hot water to arrive.

We never had a problem with the 10gal hot water tank in our previous trailer. We're seriously considering replacing the tankless with a tank.
