Insurance Increase

Not a Jayco question but a Ram 3500 question. Has anyone seen their insurance policies jump considerably lately? My Geico policy went up about $250 for six months for two vehicles and the 5'er. The Ram went up over $100 for the six months. Full coverage on all. No tickets, no accidents, no claims. I read somewhere that Ram HDs were spiking in insurance. Just curious what others are experiencing. Might be time to switch.

All prices seem to be going up, buttttt, that said, I think most (all?) insurance companies start running up rates in hope you won't notice. Or are to lazy or busy or UN-observant to shop around.

I currently have Progressive. I like it for the convenience to putting it into storage mode when not traveling. But if I get a notice my premiums are going up then it is time to shop.

Problem with comparing insurance, is it varies widely state by state.

You got that right. Automobile insurance in Texas is literally 1/2 that for the same coverage in Louisiana. The reason as explained to me is policing of uninsured motorists in Louisiana is extemely lax.

There are several previous threads on this topic comparisons are apples and oranges as Grumpy says. It is regional.

“ cost are going up because your (( insert your vehicle make & model here)) are having more claims!

We did not renew our MH insurance with one company that “specializes” in insuring RVs and bundled it with our home and car insurance. Saved 250.00 on the MH part.

Another one Agents are using is that your Truck 'increased in Value', hence it will cost us more to replace.

There is some logic in this claim. If nothing else, repair parts and replacement cost is definitely higher! My vehicle property tax jumped significantly because "Blue Book" values are way up. (Just like property tax on your residence goes up if values increase regardless of if you did any improvements.) My truck is a year older, but it's worth more............even worse with my Fifth Wheel!

A few months ago the insurance company we had all of our insurance with (Farmers Insurance) went up on everything. I shopped around and saved 12% with Travelers who for the most part has good feedback when it comes to claims.

Insurance is a total rip off! They are as crooked as politicians. I agree with pretty much everything previously posted here. I too have heard the " your truck is worth more so its gonna cost more to replace" excuse. Yeah, well you ain't replacing it with a used truck that's more expensive than a new one, so now what?
It seems like every couple 2 or 3 years to need to play the shopping game. Sometimes it can pay off, but to have to make sure you're comparing apples to apples. Insurance companies dont all insure things the same way, such as RV 's. Company A that I was with had increased my rates. I shopped around and found a cheaper rate through company B. In reading some fine print AFTER I switched my 5er coverage wasnt the same and there was a lot of grey area and some unanswered questions. I ended up going thru a friend that works at an agency who got me the coverage I wanted and needed for cheaper than I had thru company B. Heres the funny thing, my coverage thru him was with company A that I was originally thru.
Michigan rates are ridiculous because we are a no fault state. I'm currently paying about $3400/yr with full coverage on an 01 Yukon XL, 05 Trailblazer, 09 G6, a 15 Silverado 3500, and our 17 Northpoint. All are rated as pleasure driving vehicles except the G6. That our to/from work/school vehicle. Pleasure vehicles are rated a little cheaper than a primary. Drivers are myself, DW, and our 18yr old daughter and we all have very high credit scores. Dont even get me going on the subject of how your credit score affects your rates!

I hear you loud and clear. They insure your vehicle for what you pay for it BUT, if you have any sort of accident or something happens, THEY GIVE YOU LESS THAN BLUE BOOK VALUE!

I just got the renewal for our Pinnacle fifth wheel today and I see it went up $103. I guess that’s not too bad, considering what the new ones have gone up to since we purchased ours.

I don’t see the relation between your insurance raise and new pinnacle prices.

Replacement cost if mine would get totaled. When we picked ours up last September after ordering it in March of 21 the price had increased $20,000. Does that help you understand?

My RAM 3500 just went down. Guess I am lucky. Not sure when my Pinnacle is up for renewal. Insurance doesn't care about replacement costs. They aren't going to replace it. They will give you fair market value and you'd better hope you have GAP insurance if you still owe on it.

Some carriers offer stated value. No back and forth as to what you get if a claim is made on a total.

I just purchased my ram 3500. I did not do a price comparison. DW and I were ecstatic, I was guessing the insurance price would be 3x the price of my wife's fairly new car, based on just purchase cost. Nope, its less than 1/2 the cost of the cost. It is even less than the old truck.
