Intermittent slide motor issues
Hello everyone,
Just trying to figure out an issue I have been having with my slide motor on the living room slide. I purchased my Eagle Superlite new in 2008. It seems when every I have driven over rough roads, when I try to run the slide out, I get no movement. If I go under and ratchet the bolt on the motor a few turns, it sides out and will return without issues. It might work for the rest of the trip or sometimes I would need to do it the next day. The FW is level and connected to site power. Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Richard

Could be an adjustment. The motor may not be able to start extending it, but after you give it a little help by manually cranking it extends.

I suspect the motor and gears get bound after some big bumps. Using a ratchet to allows you to manually force it from its bound position and the motor takes over from there. I'm thinking it's something akin to a starter motor and bound gears. A good question would be how persistent is the issue? If you drive down a smooth road and park, does the slide out work OK? Do you only have issues after it's bounced around a lot?

It will work after a smooth ride. I have noticed that after hard bumps or rough roads it tends to act up. I will have to check to see if the motor and gears are adjustable. If I remember from my last look, the crank nut is mounted on the end of the motor.

Just tried to run the slide out and no,movement. You can hear a click when the switch is depressed. I removed the motor and it tested fine and the gears are in great shape. Put it back in and as before, nothing. I spun the nut on the the motor few times and the slide ran out and back in. I am wondering if the actuator is binding. Any one have any experience with actuators?

Definitely sounds like a binding issue when first trying to extend.

Might I suggest the possibility that with a rough ride the slideout might be moving either fore or aft in the slideout opening causing it to be tighter to the frame at one end rather than perfectly centered. It could be up against the frame and motor track at one end until you manually start to move it.

Intermittent slide motor issues
So I am posting follow up comments from my slide out motor issues.
I purchased a new slide out motor from RV Parts.com. Great price, fast shipping and it was the same OME part that was installed on my unit.
Just returned from 6 weeks on the road and I did nit encounter a single slide issue. I thinking that the old motor just didn't have the initial power/torque to start the slide without assistance. (Turning the manual drive nut)
Thanks for all of the input and happy camping!
