Inverter problem

We made it home after a nice weekend camping, other than my inverter cycling off and on constantly, but it kept supplying power. Got home plugged in to clean, no inverter at all. Went to drain my hot water tank, my shoes got wet, reached up to close the door on the water tank and got a shock!! I called RV One in Altoona Iowa, much to their credit I have an appointment Thursday. Hopefully nothing major, just a loose wire. This is on our 2019 321 RSTS. Bought it in November 2018, over 6000 miles and 50 days in it, our first problem.

Have the same unit. I’ll be curious to hear what the resolution is.

Probable quick appointment due to this major safety concern. Sounds like the water heater or entire coach may have lost its 120 volt ground as this is what prevents the possibility of being shocked.

Of course that is only half the equation. Even if you lost the safety ground you should not get shocked by just touching something metal. Maybe the leaking water is bridging the hot to ground.

Please let us know what they find.

Got our 321 back from RV one in Altoona Iowa yesterday. They got me in on schedule, got right on it, had to wait for Jayco to approve more time but got it done as soon as Jayco approved it. Here is what they found. too small wire nuts on some connections, loose wires going to and from the inverter, an open ground, reverse polarity on 2 outlets. So basically they went through and rewired everything and tested the complete unit. My inverter is working now but the tech told Jayco that he highly recommends they install a new one, so we are waiting on a reply back for that. The young lady that was my service adviser at RV One seemed very informed and did a good job.

What a mess, but sounds like you’ve got a great dealer. Glad to hear it’s resolved.
