Is 1000 watt Inverter a botte neck for onan

I am getting an Onan 5500 generator installed over the next week. I currently have a 1000 watt inverter in our Pinnacle.

It will run our residential fridge. I am wondering if the 1000 watt inverter will be a botteneck when we want to plug in a kettle which could draw as much as 1500 watts?

If so, has anyone upgraded an existing inverter?

You can't have both tied to your AC at the same time. Either use a breaker after the inverter to disconnect it when the genny is running or install a transfer switch.

You could also switch to a source balance type inverter which will use the AC to supplement the needs.

If you have the geny running why do you need the inverter? When the geny is running it will be no different than being on shore power.

I am showing my ignorance Grumpy Thanks for straightening me out.

Right, not thinking about this right. If the generator is on, no need for the inverter, dah
