It's time to say goodbye.

I am now out of the RV travel scene. I sold my 2007 Jayco Eagle 325 BHS last week, followed by my 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel.

It was a hard decision but my osteoarthritis got the better of me and I was having problems with walking and setting up my 5th wheel and entry into my truck, knee replacements are in the wind. I will miss my trips to Yuma that I have done over the years, but maybe trips are in the wind with motels etc.

What I am going to miss is my truck, but a diesel is made to work and this is not happening so I now have a Dodge Durango Citadel.

I will continue to sneak into this site to see what's new and how folks are doing, so long for now and happy camping to one and all!! Mike.

Keep us posted on your future and thanks for your Law Enforcement career!

Your dilemma is one we all have to face. It will be a sad day for me to have to slow down on camping.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I say that with the understanding that we will all be facing a similar situation at some point. It's a reminder to those that still can to make the best of every opportunity to hook up and head out with family and friends. Hopefully you'll find some other type of less strenuous activity to fill the void.

My parents were staring at this. His doctor convinced him to try a Whole Foods plant based diet. He’s no longer on bp or cholesterol meds. His blood sugar is under control. His arthritis is manageable now. He went from barely walking to throwing the football with us in the park yesterday.

I know time flies, just turned 65 and wonder where it went so fast and how much longer I will be doing everything still.
Good luck and now enjoy easy vacations

Nothing lasts forever, enjoy the times we have camping/traveling, time marches on. My folks camped 40 years. Dad towed at 94, just a short distance.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

Best of luck AlbertaGuy!

Don't put off getting your knees replaced. I had both done over 10 years ago and have been (knee) pain free ever since!

Mike, It will take awhile to adjust. I sold my Jayco designer 5th. wheel. That's on the list of bad decisions I've made. I bought a Holiday Rambler Alumascape. That's also on the list of bad decisions..It's on the lot to be sold. Can't be too soon. I have my 2006 Ford King Ranch F350. I can't bring myself to part with it yet.(I love that truck.Don't want a new one.
) Not until the 5th. wheel is sold. I have the problems with my back and neck. Driving is like someone trying to drive my spine in the ground, becauseof the bad roads in Oklahoma..On good roads I'm fine. Maybe I"m a diehard but I 'm hoping to get another Jayco after repairs on my back. At least you're smart enough to sell your rig and then wait and see. You can always buy again.I feel like the dog hanging on to the bone with all his might. I wish you well and good recovery with your knees so you can' get back out 'among us'. j2ponies

It should be pointed out that Albertaguy dates back to the forums first year as a member, and could therefore be considered a "plank owner" as they say in the navy for a sailor that has been on a ship since commissioning . Not many left here from O9, he goes back further then me lol.

Knee replacements work well. I've had two and I'm 78. Good luck and wishes to you. John

Best Wishes

Wish you well, As you say there are motels, park models, trailer rentals etc that you can take advantage of going forward. Not the end but the beginning of a new phase...acceptance of reality takes great strength....
