I sold my 2016 f150 and bought a f250 and a 28.5 eagle ht. The fifthwheel was within my f150s tow capacity but not it's payload capacity. Basically to much weight pushing down on the bed of the truck to be pulled safely.

I thought about the 30.5MBOK but I only have 2,652 in payload on my 2500. When I went to the scale last year the truck (alone) came in at 7,980lb which brought my useable payload down to about 1,500lb.

The 30.5MBOK is too big for my 2500.

Can someone offer me some help. I had the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 added to my 30.5 MBOK. I had the six point system installed. My question is does it only work on the RV12 volt system? It really seems to draw on the battery. I only have a single 12 volt battery and wonder do I need to add a second battery. While out camping this week I had to install a new battery because I could not get the system to operate. Kept getting low voltage error. Does it not work when connected to shore power , is the leveling system strictly a 12 volt system? Thanks for any advice or help.

Yes it should be a strictly 12v system run off your battery. If your battery is dead plug in your tow vehicle while leveling or plug into shore power.

If you still get a low voltage warning then something else is wrong with your wiring or a fuse is blown somewhere.

Thanks so much. I must have a problem in the wiring. I did exactly as you suggested, stayed plugged into my tow vehicle and got the low voltage error. I’ll have to have the wiring checked. Maybe I can track down the in line fuses myself. Thanks.

For what its worth, payload is the issue 90% of the time. I have a 2016 F250 6.2L and a 2019 30.5MBOK. With a family of four, the 5th wheel hitch, odds and ends, and a ready-to-camp camper, I tip the scales about 100lbs over my GVWR of 10,000lbs. It adds up quick. To the 6.2's credit, it handles it fine up the mountains in the Smokies. It is still very stable. I've always heard 3/4 tons are derated to hit the 10,000lb mark; maybe that's why. I do have the stiffest springs available due to the way it was optioned and added Timbrens.

I pulled my 2018 30.5 MBOK home from the dealer using a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD with the 6.0L gasser. Now, the 3/4 ton was able to handle the load just fine because it was the HD, but the truck had to really work at pulling it up the hills. If you hit even a slight a head wind, it would really struggle.
Engine and transmission temps ran high the whole way home. Good thing it was only 250 miles!

2 days after buying my MBOK I upgraded to a 2013 GMC Sierra 3500HD with the 6.2L Duramax and single rear wheels. It pulls the MBOK around like it's a popup!

Simply put, I would NOT recommend a 1/2 Ton p/u for the 30.5 MBOK. Even unloaded, your not going to be happy with it.
