Jayco 321RSTS

I purchased a 2015 321RSTS Fifth wheel about 6 weeks ago. After 18 years and various RVs later, I got to experience something new. I was letting one of the grey water tanks get “full” to run a good rinse through the sewer connection pipe. Yes I know there is a Black Tank flush but old habits die hard. The tank was about 2/3 full when suddenly the tank broke loose from the frame and crashed through the bottom onto the ground. Well mostly. There were two small wires strung across under the tank that held one end up while it drained all over the trailer site. (Thank goodness it was grey not black). This tank had no support under it at all, yet the other grey and the black are supported with 2 cross pieces. The tank was essentially wedged between two pieces of angle iron that the lip of the tank rested on. No straps, screw holes or bolt holes. Nothing.
My question is, has anyone else come across this?

I can tell you that the tanks are either strapped in or bolted in.
To the best of my knowledge theses tank would have been strapped in during production.”. Quote unquote.

Welcome to JOF! It's a shame that these manufactories don't have QC in place, when I work at Boeing almost everything you did QC have to inspect it before it went down the line.

I agree, but Jayco would have to build a new plant just to handle QC issues!

It’s ridiculous. I have a barely 1 month old 2019 Eagle fiver in the driveway that’s had so many problems in the first month of ownership that I dread our next outing. I fell for the propaganda on the Jayco website about build quality and pride in their craftsmanship. It’s odd that this post pops up about the tank falling out. When I was installing my SteadyFast stabilizers it appeared that there were some unusually low sagging spots in the underbelly and I had toyed with the idea of opening it up to make sure all was secure. Maybe I’ll do that after all. I have to get in there anyway to fix a grey water tank valve that’s leaking.
I love the look of the Jayco, wife loves the floor plan and the interior finish but I can honestly say after eight RV’s of varying brands, the Jayco has absolutely been the worst as far as initial issues. It would have softened the blow if my dealer had acknowledged that these issues were unacceptable, told me to bring it right back and jumped on fixing all the issues. Instead, I got bounced around between their three locations and different service personnel and was told they were short handed and running 6-8 weeks behind on all service work.

I’m hoping I’ve resolved all the major issues myself and that we can start to get some enjoyment out of it instead but, as one other poster commented on this forum, “every time I put the key in the door, I wonder what won’t work today..”.

I’ve researched the lemon law....simply put, you have to give the dealer or manufacturer representative 3 attempts to resolve any issues etc. etc...

Seriously? At 6-8 weeks per visit at the dealership, you could be looking at half a year of not having a product you’re paying for.

Shame on Jayco for allowing RV’s to leave their manufacturing plants in these conditions.

IMO the dealers "delay, delay, delay" until the warranty runs out. Then it's no longer their problem! I've had my rig to the dealer 3 times for the same problems that were never addressed. Of course, I was told that parts were on order or they were running short of RV Techs. (With the exception of one gentleman, the "techs" I saw on the lot had fewer teeth than most 2 year olds!) I finally sent a letter to Jayco and the GM of the dealer after which I got some attention. I will try to fix any "new" issue myself as I'm quite handy. These dealers are more interested in blowing smoke while making a sale than taking care of those who've spent their money already!!

We have same model just in the 2019 version. Over the years we have had several brands of campers. We have owned Forest River, Damon, Keystone and Jaycos. We have purchased older than old to brand new lol. After reading so many posts, I feel so fortunate to have the dealers we have in St Louis. Byerly took care of us and warranty issues on a Damon motorhome that we purchased elsewhere and were fast and awesome all the time. Apache Village in St Louis is probably the most amazing dealer there is. We have purchased used and new from them on 4 separate occasions. I can’t explain how awesome these folks are. Talk about going the extra mile these guys do it. They just don’t sell you campers. Family business and has been around a long time. Any issues, and honestly they have been few, were always handled immediately and in timely fashion. When you do your PDI the camper has been gone through before you get there. Once there you have the freedom run water, flush toilets, turn on heat and air, etc. They are doing it for you if you don’t. If you find something or they find something during the PDI they are fixing it right then. Again, we feel so fortunate to have them. It’s so hard for me to fathom dealers who delay work getting done and not taking care of their customers.

Why not go to another dealer? What's a person's teeth have to do with any of it??

Sorry to hear. We are thinking of getting the same 5th wheeler. I know its all the same poison, but really it gives you no faith in Jayco products when it supposed to be the better one of the makes
