My 07 is the older classic model and it's a Canada truck. The published limit is 12k and the gvw on the fw is 12k also. Add in 90+ degrees and the Rocky Mountains and I had to stop 5 times to let it cool down. The good thing is it is fast to cool down.

More duramax problems

It got so hot under the hood that the power steering fluid thinned out and the pump failed 3 days later.

I also think you have some kind of issue. Thermostat maybe?

FWIW, I had a dealer flush the cooling system of my Dodge at just over 100k mi. It must have loosened up some crud cause the water pump failed in the next 5k mi. Now it is doing well.

No I even replaced that and driving around befor the trip the 190 thermostat starts to open at 180 and is fully open at 190. Most of the time the temperature stays around 185. I have a reader that gives me an accurate reading so I can keep a close eye on it as I go along.

Flushed everything and added a wetting agent that helps transfer heat better.
