Hello everyone. New to the board. My DW and I went to the Hershey show and fell in love with the eagle HT 28.5 RSTS. We are looking to pull the trigger right after the new year. Just wanted to get feedback from people that already have one. Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum. My wife and I just purchased an Eagle 28.5 RSTS HT. So far we are really liking it. You don't mention what your tow vehicle is, so be aware that if you have a 2500 or 3500 you will have some issues getting the FW towing level. These trailers are designed to be towed with a half ton truck, but frankly, I would not like towing the 28.5 with anything less than my 2500.

I had my dealer raise our HT up via the spring hangers and that helped some. I just installed 16" wheels and Maxxis tires today and that almost got us level. So.....I would suggest you opt for the 16" wheels and Maxxis tires from the start if you don't have a half ton tow vehicle.

We took our maiden voyage last weekend and had a great trip. No major issues and loved the comfort and room over our previous 25' TT. Time will tell, but so far we are loving it.

We have a 2015 28.5 RSTS HT and just love it. We just went to a show and looked at the 2017 and they fixed all the things i thought were wrong with the 2015 except they cut the closet space way down in the 2017. Other than that i think the unit is a great unit. We tow ours with a 2500 silverado and dont have a issue with hight. What questions do you have I will answer any that i can

I will be towing with a 2006 Silverado 1500 hd. the numbers look good. Maybe in a year or so I might upgrade to a 2500 but not yet though. but I would definitely opt for the 16" maxxis given the choice

We had one and had the issues with tow height , we now have a Jayco 291 RSTS with auto level and tinted flat glass I would absolutely tell you to take a look. We liked this unit so much better and the auto level makes setup and load up a snap . And not much price difference on a good day to buy .

I did not buy an RSTS but really wanted one until I saw the CCC. I couldn't live with 1600#. You should be aware of this and figure out how much weight you will be carrying. Remember, that if you carry any water in the tanks, that reduces the CCC by something like 8# per gallon.
Also, I should add that you might want to look at the pin weight capacity on your 1500. It's no fun being overloaded...I've been there.

We have the 2017 model and love it! Tow it with a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500. No problem towing it at all. Gas mileage not much diffetent while towing. Love the internal space. Plenty of cabinet space. They added another cabinet where the coat rack was. Minor warranty issues to be corrected. Love our fireplace. Warms place up very quickly and you save your propane. So far do good! Good luck and I would definitely recommend it.

We traded a 30' Keystone Cougar 30rkls tt for our new Jayco. Welove the rsts. We pull it w a 2013 Ford F-150 3.5 L and dojust fine on each and every hill. Granted, i was worried in spite of the fact that the dealership told me i would have no problems towing. They were right. 11+ mpg ave on a 1000 mi (rt) weekend getaway. Love the color, the appointments and the handling of this 5er. Good luck and safe Travels!

My wife and I just upgraded from a 2012 23.5 to the 28.5 RSTS. We have a 2012 Chevy 1500 with the 5.3L engine. I put a Firestone Ride Right Air bag system on it. This helps so much, because the tong weight went from 1100 lbs to 1500 lbs. I worked with a gentleman that put this system on his 3/4 ton just to help with the weight. I checked into getting a 2500 Chevy but they want about $8000.00 more for it than a 1500 and you can only get a 6.0L engine not the 6.2L like the 1500 Chevy. So I recommend staying with the 1500. My wife and I went to Las Vegas back in March to the Nascar Race. We live in Ks. and the only thing was a few hills. We just didn't get in a big hurry. But don't get me wrong, probably in 2018 I'll get another 1500, but I'll order it with the 6.2L engine and get with a standard 6.8 ft. bed. I'll have to upgrade to a 16k hitch because pulling my boat trailer behind my new 28.5 RSTS 5er is over the limit on my 12k hitch. Now to your question on the 28.5 RSTS. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. We got a hell of a deal on a holdover. It's a 2016, and just a few changes from it to the 17 model. There is so much more I could chat about but I really stink at typing. We bought a 2017 Jayco HT rsts in December and have towed it 6000 miles through all sorts of weather and roads on the West Coast. We love the size and features. It tows well with our Ford 250 truck and the diesel mileage is about the same as our previous Superlite model. One warning--the Simmons "Residential" mattress is hard as a rock, and began to sag after a few weeks. You may want to swap out that mattress. Perhaps you can get a credit from Jayco to buy a new one. Also, check the valves under the kitchen sink every day. Ours leaked (saw a similar problem on this forum) and needed to be replaced.

I also have a 2017 Jayco HT 28.5 RSTS and I am having the same problem as most people are is leveling out the RV when towing. I see a lot of people talking about dropping there leaf springs in the spring hangers. My question is: I have a hole to drop my front leaf spring down about 2" and a hole to drop my rear leaf spring down about 2" but what about the center position that has the MORryde cre/3000. There is no hole to drop that down 2". Am I missing something?
I am also looking at getting the 16 tire's. Why is this thing so low? This is my first fifth wheel and I had know idea I would be dealing with this problem.

We have the 28.5BHOK and really like it too. Tow with a Dodge 2500 diesel so it runs nicely. Yep a little nose high. One of the problems of towing with a 4WD pickup.

If you get one read through about the plumbing issues. Had a couple of fittings near the water pump that dripped and the kitchen faucet fittings were loose from the factory.

Sorry to tell you but your numbers are not good. This 5th wheel is 8500 lbs empty and 10000 lbs when filled to capacity.

Your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD has a towing capacity
7,900 to 8,300 lbs Sorry

I am surprised at the number of 1/2T trucks towing these loads. And, yes, I know all the 'new' ones are upgraded and all the advertising about how these are 'light' trailers.

Our 29.5BHOK is right at the max load for the 2500, both in truck weight and trailer weight (we are at the 11000 GVW of the trailer). Our pin weight is 1800lb (measured at the scales). Before installing the helper springs I had only 1" of suspension travel before it hit the bump stops. I would not dream of towing it with a 1/2T.
