Jayco Gel Finish Maintenance

I am sure this has been asked numerous times before but here goes again. With all the gelcoat finish cleaners and polish on the market, what has worked good for you? I am looking for a good cleaner/scratch remover and also a good wax or polish so I can keep the 2 year old Jayco looking brand new.

I'll give you the same advice the folks at the Jayco factory gave me.... use the same type of wax/cleaner that you'd use on plastic boats or cars, i.e. Corvettes. They indicated there wasn't a brand they recommended; just use a high quality wax, etc. Myself I use Meguiar's and have had very good luck.

I'm sure others will chime in with other good products and ideas as "yes" this thread went around a few months ago. It's good that you asked though as I'm sure others on the forum would like to know the answer to this question and we all need to keep up with what's good.

We use Snap Seal. It is actually a tar and bug remover with wax. It is very easy on and off. Very little effort needed. We use it on our 5'er, boat, cars, windows, wheels and even the corporate jet I fly. You can use it for a complete wax job or just spot cleanings. We think it is great! It comes in gallon jugs and all you need is a spray bottle and a couple towels. We can do our 5'er in about 3 hours and like I said it is very easy. Just spray on and wipe then in a minute (whenever it dries) or so wipe off. It also removes the black water streaks with ease! Gel Finish, We ordered or Designer with the Jayco Gel-Coat Finish. Extra $$$$ well I didn't know that the Gel-Coat finish is Only on the sides !! The front and back are Fiberglass. We were told you can't have Gel-Coat on fiberglass (well thats Wrong) I was very unhappy with the extra cost to find out not on the ends of the rig. I use Turtle Wax on the fiberglass ends. I am happy with the Hard Shell Finish (old commercial)

+1 for Meguiar’s wax as well....

I've tried their RV wax and their Auto wax (on my TT) and cannot tell the difference. Thus, do use their Auto wax - which costs slightly less. re: http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/imagesEdp/p84686z.jpg

Tip: For winter storage, I apply the wax and leave it. Thus, leaving a white film on its outer surface. In the spring, I then re-wax and wipe clean - to create very shiny surface. IMO. During the winter months, leaving the white film helps protect its outside surface even more. Especially if you store a RV/TT outside - like I do.

Do you fly for this company Stephen? I just noticed that you and the company are both located in Arkansas. I recieved the product today, very quick shipping. My 5er is 300 miles south of me so I probably won't be trying it untill spring, but I may try it on my truck, weather permitting. Thanks for the heads up on the Snap Seal.

No I do not work for them. They are located about 10 miles from my house. Our mechanic found the stuff and tried it on our plane. I got some and started using it on about everything I own. It is super easy so I kept using it! Hope you like it as well as we do!
