King pin not locking

Good evening all

I got the following problem. We have a Demco Hitchkiker 18k Autoslide.

I am able to line up the truck and get the king pin (mor-ryde pin box) into the "slot" , BUT I can't get the hitch to lock.

The locking mechanism works. I can trip it "by hand".

Ideas ??? Suggestions ???

Thank you.

I had this problem with our Pullrite Autoslide and it turned out that the teeth in the gears had separated causing it not to lock shut. Pullrite sent me new gears and has been trouble free since!

First time I had a problem with this I had a Teflon plate that was too thick. Then I didnt have it greased well enough. Was also using a wedge. Once I got rid of the wedge (bought bigger longer truck) and greased it up well havent had any problems since.

I did have a different hitch but had the same problem of not being able to get it to lock correctly.

Hi there i have the same fifthwheel hitch as you two things to look for on the two slide bars make sure you do not have them to tight it will stop the pin from going in if your pin is not in all the way the slidebar that locks the pin in will not slide right in.

Demco

Have the same hitch, had a similar problem as you have when hooking up a couple years ago, have found you have to be almost dead on when hooking up , manufacture says can be off center by 15 degrees that is not much.
