Kinked Pex

Ah, the joys of taking my Northpoint out of mothballs. While trying to figure out how to change the canister filter, I discovered a kinked pex hose. Not sure what it leads to yet. I am looking for advice on the possibility of cutting that section out and re-attaching with a sharkbite coupling. Do the pex pipes require a different sharkbite attachment? Seems like a no-brainer.

No sharkbite will work same as a pex fitting of the same size.

Pex uses a standard 1/2" Sharkbite, but you said hose. Sharkbite only works on PEX, CPVC and copper rigid pipe.

Usually they use braided hose to connect the filter cannisters.

Thanks all. The hose/pipe that is kinked has a name of Yih Chuan. It is white with what looks like a braided cover on it. It does not look like the other PEX piping. Not smooth on the surface like pex. The kinked one leads to the bottom of the water heater. So, what type of coupling is right for this repair.

Usually a barbed fitting and hose clamps. Can you post a picture?

I posted three pics. Hope it works. Looks like the heater bypass pipe. Other end leads to red valve on Utili-dock.

You can buy that by the foot at a home store. Get enough that you can reroute it without a kink. Or put a 90 deg. fitting to eliminate the kink.

X2.

It isn't PEX and as mentioned earlier you will need fittings that are barbed and then held on by hose clamps. Your local big box home improvement store should have a decent selection.
