larger 5th wheel and State parks

Hi guys,
I'm wondering how many of you guys camp at state parks?
We love camping at mn state parks. Now that I will be getting a 5th wheel that is just under 35' I am wondering if I will have any issues backing into the sites and if I have a shorter site then my total length of tow vehicle and trailer that I would just park the tow vehicle sideways or at the parking spots they have. What has been your experiences been with state park camping ?

Thanks

We camp 95% in Pennsylvania State Parks. We have a 35' 2017 Jayco Eagle 293RKDS. It definitely limits you to what sites you can use. Our previous trailer was shorter. So we are very careful when booking sites.

We have found the farther north you go the small the lots are. Several parks around the border of Canada will only accommodate max 30' RVs. Got to be careful out there. Call ahead....

We limited the size of our travel trailer to 30ft for just that reason, even then we have been in some sticky situations.
In Oregon, I think most of the larger state parks will be OK, although you may not be able to pick any site you want. BLM and Forest Service campgrounds get quite a bit "tighter".

One of the things we watch out for along with the length, is the width and overhang. Most are 30 to 70 feet long in our area. In a FW with 3 slides, you may need a minimum with of 15 to 20 feet because of the slides.

Ours is 35'. The majority of camping we do is State and National Parks. We never have a problem. I sure wouldn't want any longer though....

Even if the site will fit the length of your trailer, i've been in a few sticky situations this year in the state parks backing it in and even traversing the camping loop. I had to ask a guy to move his TV so that i could use part of his site to get the right angle to back in. Definitely worth doing some due diligence on the particular sites you're looking into.

MN state parks will depend on which one. Banning is probably going to be tough but there are spots up on the north shore at Jay Cook, Temperance and Tettegouche that won't be an issue at all. Wife and I camp at Wild River, White Water, Bear Head, Forestville, Moose Lake and the three previously mentioned and there are spots at all of the parks you could easily park a 40 foot trailer.

In Montana, the majority of state parks are not designed for larger trailers or rvs. There are a few, and fortunately the state website lists maximum lengths for either the park or the individual site. I always check google satellite of the park to get an idea of maneuverability in the park.

With our 36 ft TT we sized ourselves out of more than a couple state parks here in NY.
