Lippert brake seal failure
We bought a 2017 339FLQS last Oct. On our way home from Florida in July, the brakes on the Eagle seemed little to none. My better half pulled the first wheel to find grease everywhere and to our dismay all 4 wheels were the same!! I know Grand Design owners are struggling with this issue too. So please keep you eyes open.

Did someone/anyone service your bearings before/after you bought it?

Sounds like someone used the EZ To Overload Lube System and blew the seals.

I do not have nor do I support the use of EZ lube bearings however, I proactively pulled all my wheels shortly after bringing my trailer home land replaced all the factory installed bearings and seals with Timkens.
I found 1 bearing nearly dry with the castle nut very over-tightened, 2 were OK and the fourth one had so much grease it was just starting to leak past the seal.

I had brake problems with my new rig. The problem was grease contamination. I never put a grease gun on it. Jayco paid for the repairs under warranty.

China seals and bearings is what Lippert uses. Very common failure. Like I always preach, dump the china seals and bearings and never use the EZ lube.
Be sure your non china seals are double lipped and spring loaded.
Use name brand full synthetic high temp wheel bearing grease.

Yes it has EZ lube. Nothing was done to them prior to the failure. We contacted Jayco and we told we had to contact Lippert. We contacted lippert and they authorized new seals and back plate assemblies. Good luck in our area finding certified tech to replace under warranty. We could not safely tow it anywhere so we cleaned repacked and replaced all seals. Waiting to hear if lippert will sent us new back plates.

I have had EZ lube bearings on my last (2) Rv's and they have worked perfectly. I have followed the instructions- turning tire and slowly adding grease- hand pump grease gun only !

I use them too with the same caution. I cleaned an repacked by hand recently and after 3 years of service I found all was well. Replaced seals and am good to go.

My 2017 377 has the cheap Chinese bearings, and I have been keeping an eye our for grease contamination, after 4K miles no issues, but I have it at the service center now to replace bearings with Timkens and seals getting replaced. Do not want to keep pushing my luck.

I read recently that a Jayco owner went to replace his bearings with the Timkens and the races would not fit. Has anyone else had this problem ?

Most reliable way is to remove your bearings and seals and get the part numbers from them. That's what I do.

It took some time and research to find the correct Timken Bearings simply because I have Lippert 4400 lb. axles and no one including Lippert had documentation on that weight. Turned out that the 4400 pound axles uses the same parts as the 3500 pound axles. The biggest difference is a larger diameter tube.
Once I found the correct part numbers, everything fit fine..

I also have the 4400 Axles. Could you share the correct part numbers and where you purchased them ?
