We have a long-box Ford F350 diesel. I would not consider towing a fifth-wheel without a long-box. As for parking in parking lots, yes I am long, however I park out a bit from the stores where I can get out of easily. Have to walk a bit, but that is just good exercise. (Even with a injured knee sporting a knee brace.) I have seen short bed trucks towing 5th wheels and have seen some damage to both the front caps and the trucks.

Short box here. No damage. Get a slider hitch and life is good.

We have a long bed crew cab F350 with 4wd (I think the turning radius is better with 2wd) and an extended shank in the hitch. Yes, maneuverability suffers with this rig. But so far (knock on wood) this combination hasn't prevented me from getting into any sites, it rides very nice (towing either a TT or a 5th wheel), and I have room for a bunch of stuff in the truck bed even with my 50 gal aux fuel tank. I could probably leave behind some of the stuff in my truck bed, but that 'extra' 50 gal of diesel fuel... priceless.

We have a SB Ram 3500 and our setup is a "drop in" B&W Companion with the Reese 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder. A lot of people will comment that B&W will tell you that they don't recommend this combo but plenty of comments and my personal experience (I called B&W) is that they actually recommend it for short boxes, you just need to get the correct wedge

Two long beds here for many of the reasons already stated, I like putting sheets of drywall, plywood, or studs in and closing the gate. More GVW with LB, next one will be a crew cab Vs extend cab for the added leg room.

I can't help it, long bed fan from long ago. On our farm, LB was the only truck Pop would have. I've had one SB truck, F150, the only thing I towed with it was a 16' stock trailer with 16 head of hogs. Was a little squirrely compared to the LB. IMHO, LB is the way to go. I have room for my tool box, can haul full sheets of plywood when I need to, and I fully believe the LB rides better unloaded. I have not had any problems parking, DW compares park the truck to docking the Queen Mary.

Yes, it takes a 'little bit' more to turn it around, but for towing its Awesome to have!

Yup. In most lots we park in the 'back 40.' Not only is parking easier, I want to be sure we have an exit. I learned that after a few times where getting out was a greater challenge than it needed to be.

Worst part is when you're parked out in the boonies and some special "person" comes and parks right next to you. Drives me absolutely looney tunes. Why do you think I'm parked way the heck out here?! Hint: although I do need it, it's not for the exercise!

Our TV is a SB Duramax 2500 HD with a PullRite Superglide auto-slider. There have been no worries about hitting the cab on tight turns. I found that the SB actually has a higher GVWR than the LB by a few hundred lbs. I know that is not a lot, but a little extra cushion is always nice. I have owned a TV in the past that was a LB and I do like the maneuverability as my these are my daily drivers as well.
