Longshot: anyone running Reese Goose Box, 377, and current gen F450/350?

Have my Goose Box on the lowest set of mounting holes (top two rows) and my 377 runs level with my old school 2004 GMC 3500. About 7” of clearance to the bed.

2019 F450 on the way, and wondering what I’m going to run into with the higher bed on this truck. (Hoping taller gooseball will be the easy answer!)

There is a youtube channel called Big Truck Big RV who did a Reese Goose Box install on his 2018 F450. I remember he didn't have a ton of bed rail clearance when he first set it up. First video of the install is here

You'll need to search his youtube page for the actual driving tests but they weren't long after.

Hah, yes I know his channel, I even reminded him to grease the coupler after his install, you can see the ball is dry in the video.

He has a lower profile rig, a Chaparral 5er, so not exactly apples to apples when it comes to bed clearance with a 377.

He uses a B&W ball with his factory puck setup, I think I'll give that a shot since I like the way it has an integrated handle to keep your hands clean, and it only comes in a 3" rise version.

I tow a 293 RKDS with a goosebox. I bought a curt raised ball and have about 7” of clearance at the rear of the box. My tow vehicle is a 2017 F250. My fifth wheel is about 3” nose high. I did raise the RV 2”.

Thanks, Tom. Can't complain too much about my 15 year old GMC, it's only let me down once when towing, but that was the last straw for me.

Time on the road with the family is precious, these days, and I didn't want to risk ruining a vacation anymore because something on our ancient tow vehicle let go.

The new truck will also let me take my non-commercial Class A test, so I can finally be legal. I've been within actual weight spec on the GMC with how we load our 377, but GCVW isn't.

A Platinum spec F450 should hold me for the next 15 years... hopefully.

I know how you feel Todd. I had an 06 F350 that was great except when we towed to the mountains of west texas. Always seemed underpowered going up and I never made a trip up/down the mountain without something going wrong. Nothing catastrophic, but having to replace or try to repair a blown turbo boot on the side of is not fun. So, DW finally said get rid of that POS and I upgraded to my current 14 F350.

You will absolutely love the power the 6.7 provides. It will be a night and day difference to your old 04.
